OverviewTax Associate, Mergers and Acquisitions Tax - JD/LLM | Multiple Locations Summer/Fall 2026 at KPMG US. KPMG emphasizes investing in its culture and its people.ResponsibilitiesStructure the tax aspects of domestic and multinational private equity and strategic mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, dispositions and IPOs, including drafting tax opinions, memos, structure decks and Excel models.Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.Provide sell-side tax advisory services, advising sellers on tax-efficient transaction structures and modeling costs and benefits of alternatives.Deliver bankruptcy and restructuring tax advisory services, providing tax advice on debt and equity restructurings to preserve the value of a company’s tax pute tax attributes (earnings and profits, tax basis in stock of consolidated subsidiaries and section 382 limitations).Draft tax opinions, memos and related advice.Build capabilities in key technologies that enable client service delivery (e.g., AI, Alteryx, Power BI).QualificationsMust be pursuing and have obtained by the start date a JD and/or LLM, or equivalent program from an accredited college or university.Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.Knowledge of corporate, partnership and international tax law with interest in mergers, acquisitions and transactional work.Strong service mindset, technical ability, critical thinking, research skills, and proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills; team player; ability to deliver high-quality work.Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx and Power BI.Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client locations using personal transportation.Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, with short notice.Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
