OverviewThe Specialized Recruiting Group is hiring a Vice President of Operations for a construction firm client in Charlotte, NC. The VP of Operations is responsible for the overall success of a single family operating division, focused on plumbing and/or hvac (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) for new residential construction.Key capabilities include leadership of field operations teams, cross-functional collaboration, operational excellence, and strong relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesField Operations Leadership: Oversee daily operations of area managers, supervisors and tradesmen. Collaborate with builders and stakeholders to forecast demand; communicate with subcontractor agencies and shared services teams to plan labor and materials. Monitor KPIs (e.g., on-time schedule adherence, job cost overages, inspection pass rates) and drive successful outcomes. Promote a digital-first mentality and provide strategic leadership to field operations. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and building codes. Enforce safety and quality standards.Frontline Field PerformanceCapacity: Measure and coach area managers to maximize production per crew; oversee training program health for capacity development; monitor efficiency (production per hour) per crew.Quality: Coach to maximize first-time quality and minimize rework per crew.Performance Metrics: Identify high- and low-performing crews; assist with improvement plans; analyze data to drive division-wide performance improvements and share findings with other divisions.Safety: Drive a safety-first culture; review all safety violations/incidents; partner with Safety leadership on toolbox talks; monitor jobsite audits; act as primary contact for customer field construction management on safety concerns; manage direct labor costs and optimize labor, material costs, and profitability; collaborate with purchasing, warehouse, finance, and accounting to control costs and prepare annual budgets.People Leadership & Relationship Building: Conduct 1:1s and skip-level 1:1s; draft and present performance improvement plans; foster a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement; build relationships with accounting, purchasing, data & technology, warehouse & logistics; participate in HR processes; mentor area managers and cascade expectations; partner with HR on training and development programs.QualificationsAbility to identify, analyze, and solve complex business problems.
