Job Description

OverviewAs a BIM/VDC Specialist (Mechanical), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining mechanical models, assisting in coordination efforts, and ensuring quality control of BIM deliverables. You will work closely with mechanical contractors, project managers, foremen, and field teams to ensure constructability, accuracy, and seamless execution of electrical systems.What You Will DoProject Setup & Execution – Support BIM project setup, document management, and deliverable coordination.Quality Assurance & Documentation – Ensure electrical models, installation drawings, and prefabrication drawings meet industry and client standards.Technical Modeling & Coordination – Develop detailed mechanical models, resolve clashes, and optimize layouts.Client Collaboration & Problem Solving – Work closely with electrical contractors, foremen, and project managers to optimize project success.Additionally, you’ll support remote teams, contribute to process improvements, and stay up to date on the latest electrical BIM/VDC trends.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Setup & CoordinationUnderstand project scope, review contract documents, and participate in kickoff meetings.Develop and maintain BIM models for mechanical systems, ensuring alignment with project anize and manage project documents, installation drawings, and revision tracking.Ensure file naming, folder structures, and document sharing follow company standards.Assist the VDC Project Manager in setting up BIM execution strategies and coordination plans.Technical Modeling & CoordinationDevelop mechanical models in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, ensuring constructability and compliance.Perform clash detection and resolution with other trades (electrical, plumbing, structural).Work with mechanical foremen and project managers to ensure mechanical layouts align with field requirements.Assist in prefabrication planning, including spool drawings, conduit layouts, and material takeoffs.Update as-built models to reflect field conditions and revisions.Quality Control & Assurance (QA/QC)Conduct daily model reviews to track progress and ensure accuracy.Review and redline mechanical drawings, submittals, and contract documents.Ensure all mechanical deliverables meet client standards, installation requirements, and NEC municate with foremen to translate field best practices into the model.Perform QA/QC on installation drawings, ensuring precision before release to the field.Client Collaboration & Problem SolvingAct as a frontline representative for BIM/VDC support with mechanical contractors and field teams.Work hand-in-hand with foremen to address constructability concerns and optimize mechanical layouts.Attend weekly BIM coordination meetings, present issues, and contribute to problem resolution.Support remote teams, provide technical direction, and ensure modeling efficiency.Assist with site visits to validate constructability and improve future BIM workflows.What We're Looking ForExperience: 3+ years in BIM/VDC for mechanical construction.Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to analyze modeling challenges and provide constructible solutions.Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and munication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with contractors, project managers, and field dustry Expertise: Familiarity with mechanical systems, conduit routing, NEC codes, and field installation practices.Extreme Ownership Mentality: Take full responsibility for BIM model accuracy, project success, and team collaboration.Coordination & Clash Detection: Experience working with multidisciplinary coordination efforts in pensationCompensation Range: From $38.46 to $48.08 per hour.Note: VEC is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
