Overview The Little Nell is Aspen's only Five-Star, Five-Diamond, ski-in/ski-out hotel, featuring luxurious amenities, personalized service, mountain views, renowned dining, and access to America’s famous mountain town. The property is a Relais & Châteaux resort with award-winning wine and culinary programs and a range of on-site amenities, including two restaurants, three bars, a wine cellar, and a spa. The hotel has been recognized with numerous awards over the years and, in 2027, will expand outside Aspen to Rockefeller Center in New York City. Position Summary The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the general accounting operations of the hotel. This position implements and maintains a system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure all financial reporting complies with financial policies. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance and Hotel General Manager. The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $190,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all salaried roles are eligible for bonus. Applications for this position will be accepted until October 12, 2025. Essential Job Functions / Key Job Responsibilities Oversee and maintain operational standards for accounting, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, systems support, and payroll support. Maintain accurate accounting and financial records in compliance with company policies, procedures, and GAAP. Maintain accounting standard operating procedures for treasury, banking, accounts receivable, inventories, fixed assets, accounts payable, financial reporting, payroll, and internal controls. Manage preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting to hotel operations, parent company, and ownership. Maintain ProfitSword infrastructure including user administration, chart of accounts, financial reporting, and data integrity; develop and execute innovative business plans aligned with the company’s and brand’s strategic direction. Forecast working capital analysis and cash flow to ensure cash requirements are sufficient. Maintain a clean balance sheet with monthly reconciliations and proper documentation; ensure inventories are accurately valued and all items clear properly. Maintain fixed asset schedule including depreciation; remove disposed assets and account for all in accordance with GAAP. Manage and control exposure to bad debt losses and ensure collection of overdue payments per company policies. Act as a liaison with Aspen One accounting to ensure adherence to policies regarding treasury, banking, tax preparation, property insurance, and annual audits. Manage recurring capital process including capital requests, tracking costs against budgets, closing completed projects, and setting up fixed assets. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required 7 or more years of experience in a Senior Manager or Director level position, leading hotel finance and accounting division in a lifestyle or luxury property Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of hotel property management software, POS systems, electronic time clocks, spreadsheet software, and other hotel applications Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and capital project accounting Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; proficient in all aspects of hotel accounting Ability to analyze and improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, and sales to ensure integrated project execution Ability to lead using interpersonal and communication skills to influence others and advocate for sound financial decisions Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of professional business ethics with team and guests Ability to analyze and use operational, financial, and marketing data to maintain and improve market share Ability to work well under deadline pressure and adapt to a changing market Excellent oral (presentation) and written communication and organizational skills Additional Information Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to stand, type, and sit at a desk/computer for most of the work shift No adverse or hazardous conditions Occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
