Assistant Director, Performance Nutrition (4398C), Intercollegiate Athletics - 80119 Applications: 1 week ago – Be among the first 25 applicants Overview The Performance Dietitian or Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition will work as an integral part of the Cal Performance Nutrition department to provide nutrition programming, education, and counseling to Cal's diverse student-athlete population. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage high risk athletes and coordinate higher levels of care as needed. This position will also be responsible for adhering to university, NCAA, and ACC policies, protocols, rules and regulations. Responsibilities Applies advanced concepts to conduct needs analyses for health care programs. Make recommendations on health promotion and education programs to meet diverse campus/across athletics needs. Lead team nutritional meal planning and team/group-based educational programming. Collaborate closely with coaches and medical staff in design and implementation. Represent the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at UHS and/or campus-related nutritional matters. Initiate and design revisions to courses and program content. Assess the effectiveness of health promotion and education programs and recommend improvements with broad impact. Develop outreach programs and collaborate with community leaders and the Office of the President. May lead a team of health education professionals. Provide nutritional counseling and education services to student-athletes for medical and performance needs. Work in collaboration with Staff and Head Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Staff, Coaches/Staff and Team Physicians. Required Qualifications Thorough knowledge of health promotion and education fields and program design/delivery. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills; strong written and verbal communication. Advanced knowledge of medical and sport performance nutrition. Ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to client needs; ability to engage with diverse populations. Knowledge of rules and standards of the Pacific-12 Conference, NCAA, and related associations; commitment to compliance. Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training. Salary & Benefits Budgeted annual salary range: $72,600.00 – $85,000.00. This is an exempt, monthly-paid position. For information on benefits, visit the UC Berkeley Compensation & Benefits website.
