The company values diversity, equality, and collaboration, fostering a close-knit culture where team members contribute unique perspectives and skills in pursuit of long-term growth and community impact.The OpportunityReporting To: Chief Executive OfficerThe Senior Controller will oversee accounting and finance functions for the company’s real estate development and self-storage portfolio, which includes more than $250M in active and planned construction projects. In addition to managing corporate planning, reporting, and treasury functions, this leader will ensure financial integrity and compliance across the development platform.This role requires deep technical accounting knowledge, demonstrated expertise in real estate development and construction accounting, and proven experience designing and implementing financial controls. The Senior Controller will serve as a key partner to the executive team, lenders, and external stakeholders, providing critical insights to guide strategic decision-making and liquidity planning.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of accountants supporting real estate development and corporate functions.Manage accounting for the construction pipeline, including lender draws, project costing, and reporting.Drive month-end close, accounts payable, variance analysis, and financial management processes.Serve as the primary contact for lenders, preparing draw requests and ensuring compliance with loan covenants.Oversee tax compliance and audit processes for real estate and development entities.Provide strategic reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis to executive leadership to support planning and treasury actions.The CandidateQualificationsCPA required, with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management-level roles in real estate development, construction, or land development.Proven track record in lender relations and construction draw management.Expertise in establishing and managing internal controls, reporting, and compliance frameworks.Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a development-focused environment.Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with executives, lenders, and external partners.Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with multiple financial systems preferred.High attention to detail, organizational excellence, and ability to manage complex, multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment.Key AttributesHands-on leader with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.Strategic partner with the ability to balance day-to-day financial operations with long-term planning.Passion for creating scalable processes and elevating the finance function in a dynamic family office setting.Seniority levelExecutiveEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionAccounting/AuditingNote: This description focuses on the Senior Controller role and its core responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
