OverviewHoward Laks Architects, an award-winning architectural firm located in Santa Monica, California, is seeking a Project Architect. Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years' experience in multi-family, mixed-use projects, hotels, and commercial retail design. Key qualifications include demonstrated design talent and the ability to work closely with the firm principal to execute and support the design in a collaborative effort. Excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills are required.ResponsibilitiesDevelop architectural planning and design concept under the direction of the Project Principal.Facilitate client programming meetings and design presentations.Coordinate architectural design and building systems with engineering consultants.Oversee project design drawing and detailing by Junior and Intermediate production staff.Work with City and/or County agencies to resolve code related issues.Support throughout the project construction phase including Construction Administration/Observation, responding to RFI’s and reviewing shop submittals.QualificationsBachelors or Master’s degree in Architecture.Revit experience; minimum eight years.Experience in design and architectural detailing.Ability to speak confidently in public presentations.Strong team player.Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, Sketch-Up, Rhino, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, 3D Studio.Ability to complete a full set of documents from design development through construction document phase and to coordinate with all consultants in preparation for a RTI building permit.Ability to work closely with firm principal and production team from schematic design through project completion.Knowledge of local codes (Santa Monica, Los Angeles) including Disabled Access requirements.We offer a 401-K Profit Sharing Plan, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation, and an excellent opportunity for career progression.Schedule: 40 hours per week, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm.Please submit resume and sample of work by e-mail to .
