Network Security Engineer

OverviewWe’re seeking a Network Security Design Engineer to design and implement network security solutions and ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance across our roadside networks. You’ll join an innovative team that supports strategic initiatives, enhances network reliability, and drives innovation in network architecture.This position requires being onsite at our Alexandria office 3 days a week.As our Network Security Design Engineer, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.Day-to-day responsibilitiesDevelop and design network security solutions to address a wide range of technical challenges, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure network architecture.Implement network security solutions based on approved designs, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services and optimal performance.Provide ongoing support for network operations, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and performance optimization.Ensure all network activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ITSM practices for incident, request, and change management.Manage and configure firewalls, including developing and implementing security policies to safeguard network infrastructure and ensure compliance with security standards.Qualifications5+ years of experience creating policy, evaluating and monitoring on NGFW platforms (Palo Alto and Panorama preferred).Experience with task automation, including discovering automation use cases and developing solutions.Familiarity with security container networking environments (e.g., Kubernetes) and related security controls.Knowledge of network fabrics security segmentation (Cisco ACI desirable).Experience with Cisco Networking platforms including ACI, NX-OS, IOS-XE.Experience with industrial control systems or intelligent transportation systems (preferred).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to conceptualize complex computer networks.Ability to identify tasks and activities required to meet customer needs and align with business objectives.Experience defining processes and documenting procedures.Ability to work in a team of infrastructure, network and security professionals.If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.Benefits and cultureA competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life, STD and LTD insurance and retirement plan.Flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase additional leave each year.16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status).Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests.Health and wellbeing support, including access to Headspace, Ginger, wellness facilities, and more.Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days.It is Transurban's policy to maintain a work environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
