OverviewCleared Cloud Data Engineer (4610) at SMX (View all jobs) - Washington, DC. SMX is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role is 100% remote. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in DevOps, data and code pipeline deployments, automation scripting, data engineering, and experience with AWS technologies related to Data Analytics, Big Data & Analytics, Data Warehouses, and Data Lakes. This role will collaborate with data engineers and developers for data transformation, loading, and cleansing, and will provide support for managing environments, schemas, roles, and access. There will be opportunities to develop creative solutions, data pipelines, dimensional data modeling, and data analytics in the future. The role engages with customers, third parties, and SMX engineers/architects to build solutions. This is a remote role supporting a Washington DC based team.ResponsibilitiesTechnical support with AWS core services and data engineering productsDeployment of new data pipelines, updating code via pipelines, and maintaining ETL componentsCommunicate clearly with data engineering, data science, and architecture teams, both verbally and in written documentationDevelop scripted solutions for deploying ETL and data pipelines using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, and other automation tools as neededRequired Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Science, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field3+ years of experience with AWS administration, Redshift, and SQLClearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain Public Trust agency clearanceProficient in AWS Cloud Technologies such as EC2, S3, Redshift, Lambda, etc.Experience administering users, roles, security policies, etc. on AWS, including via federated identityExperience with Redshift administration and managementStrong SQL syntax knowledge and use casesBash and/or PowerShell scriptingAbility to read and understand Python codeExperience with ETL toolsExperience with Reporting/Analytics toolsData manipulation and analysisUnstructured, semi-structured, and RDBMS data managementKnowledge of SageMaker deployments and managementDesired Skills & ExperienceCertification related to any of the AWS technologies listed aboveUnderstanding of DevOps practicesVersion control systems (Git, TFS, Azure DevOps, etc.)Knowledge of IaC products such as CloudFormation or TerraformPython development experienceSome network knowledgeSome Windows or Linux system administration knowledgeApplication Deadline: 9-26-2025#LI-SA-1The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.
