Senior Java Developer

OverviewSenior Java Developer (Contract) – Stamford, CT. Hybrid schedule: 3x weekly in office. The role is with Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA, Inc.) for a premier Financial Services client. This position participates in a feature team to simplify and globalize the trade processing pipeline. The Software Engineers are responsible for the full lifecycle from development through maintenance and decommissioning.ResponsibilitiesThe design, production, testing and implementation of working codeWork across the lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operationsWork in a permanent Feature Team and develop knowledge of aspects of the Platform across business, applications, data and infrastructureLiaise with Principal Engineers, domain architects and other key stakeholders to understand how the Platform works and supports business objectivesImprove performance continually through evaluation and analysis of metricsApply agile methods to software developmentDeploy code continually and rapidly, working through backlogCollaborate with Principal Engineers to understand the wider Platform, Domain and Enterprise agendasProduce innovative ideas and validate through experimentation and prototyping; incorporate in relevant architecturesDesign and develop software with a focus on automating build, test and deployment activities using executable patternsRequired SkillsSolid understanding of Java programming fundamentals, including multithreading, distributed computing, and message-based architectures; proficiency in Spring Boot and the Spring FrameworkHands-on knowledge of databases such as MS SQL Server and OracleSkilled in scripting languages including Perl, Python, and JavaScriptFamiliarity with enterprise messaging services (Tibco EMS, IBM MQ) and expertise in managing Swift (MT and MX) messages and FIX protocol messages; proficient in Google Protocol Buffers (proto-2) for data serializationPreferred SkillsPreferred certifications in Java, Perl, Python, MS SQL, Jenkins, GCP/AWSAbout the Employer and Equal OpportunitySGA is a technology and resource solutions provider.
