Overview Job Title: Senior Lead Server Engineer World Services is seeking a Senior Lead Server Engineer to provide technical leadership and support for enterprise datacenter operations and modernization initiatives with a federal client. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex server and infrastructure environments, driving modernization projects, and ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of enterprise IT services. The Senior Lead Server Engineer will serve as a technical expert across multiple assignments, provide Tier III support, and oversee server infrastructure, disaster recovery, and system integration efforts. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to supervise others, and the expertise to deliver innovative, secure, and resilient IT services. This is a full-time position requiring onsite work in Washington, DC three days per week. Responsibilities Lead datacenter modernization and major technology assignments, ensuring alignment with program objectives. Plan, evaluate, and recommend solutions that drive infrastructure growth, scalability, and performance. Serve as a technical subject matter expert across multiple projects, supporting enterprise-wide IT initiatives. Provide Tier III technical support for complex server and infrastructure issues. Design, develop, and implement system architectures that align with enterprise standards. Support contingency operations, disaster recovery programs, and continuity of operations planning. Manage server monitoring, testing, and recovery procedures to ensure resilience and availability. Oversee datacenter operations, including hardware inventory, environmental monitoring, and equipment replacement planning (CERP). Implement Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions to improve IT service delivery. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand organizational goals and ensure solutions support business needs. Apply business process improvement and system integration best practices to streamline operations. Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to improve security, scalability, and efficiency. Supervise and mentor junior team members, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field. Experience: 5–8 years of progressive experience in server engineering and enterprise infrastructure. Certifications: Base-level certification: A+, Security+, or Network+. Core certification in functional area, such as: Microsoft Server certifications (MCSA, MCSE, Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate). VMware Professional, VMware Advanced Professional, or VMware Specialist. Strong expertise in server administration, datacenter management, virtualization, and system integration. Knowledge of disaster recovery, COOP strategies, and enterprise security practices. Experience designing and implementing enterprise architectures and system development methodologies. Proven ability to supervise and lead technical teams. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with experience briefing stakeholders.
