Position SummarySoftware Engineer — NAVWAR PMW 160 (tactical networks), San Diego, CA. This is for future work to be awarded in 2026.ClearanceMust be a US citizen with a DoD Top Secret security clearanceEssential Functions and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and integrate software products and updates to implement system requirements.Create and evaluate system and program software configuration requirements, metrics, processes, artifacts, analyses, briefs, process definitions, test objectives, and technical papers.Ensure that software changes are documented for traceability, audit, and configuration management purposes.Maintain software quality assurance engineering, configuration management, and analysis artifacts in support of the PMW 160 portfolio.Review and assess program software production and integration, technical, cost, schedule, and performance risks, and mitigation strategies and action plans for risks.Assess software technologies and processes for use by PMW 160.Analyze software business and licensing models for their effects on PMW 160 program procurement, production efforts, installation costs, and schedule impacts.Perform required cybersecurity testing and prepare appropriate documentation to capture the results and recommendations and indicate associated risk posture.Perform and participate in engineering peer review activities to ensure the accuracy and adherence to security best practices for proposed software code teract with system users to assess needs and requirements, and to review system operational effectiveness. These interactions shall take place regularly as part of the development and sustainment lifecycle of the system. These users include operators, maintainers, and administrators in the Fleet.Develop and review software lifecycle sustainment strategies and incorporate lifecycle support into program plans.Generate plans to transition DoN Information Assurance (IA) products into existing PMW 160 networks.Required Education, Skills, and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience will be accepted in lieu of degreeMust have an IAT Level II or III qualified certification (e.g. Security+, CISSP, etc.)At least 3 years' experience in Software DevelopmentExperience with Navy afloat networks and systems such as ISNS, ADNS, CANES, CENTRIX-M, etc.Good organizational and dependable time management skills to meet project deadlines.Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.Attention to detail, with the ability to thoroughly and accurately review and test code.Ability to follow instructions and guidelines, with a strong understanding of development processes and procedures.Good problem-solving skills, with analytical thinking to identify and resolve complex technical issues.Ability to travel to the client site as needed, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing project requirements.Physical Demands and ExpectationsRegular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sittingAbility to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistanceAbility to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipmentThis position description represents a summary of the major components and requirements of the outlined job.
