Senior Software Development Engineer (Type 2)

Overview Senior Software Development Engineer (Type 2) (Finance) – Bethesda, MD. Saalex is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to support NSWC Carderock's requirements for engineering, IT, and technical support for data analysis, software development and modifications, control system development, IT and Information assurance (IA). The work will support projects related to surface ships, submarines, boats and combatant craft, air vehicles, associated trainers and simulators, and IT infrastructure. The position is onsite in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities Perform hardware and software research, design, development, and testing of computer hardware and software programs. Develop software systems that control computers and supervise manufacturing and installation of computer-related equipment. Develop new software systems and incorporate new technologies across a range of applications; analyze user needs and design, construct, test, and maintain software or systems. Apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to software and systems; solve technical problems that arise. Engage in full lifecycle software development, with integration to Oracle databases, SQL queries, and scripting (PowerShell, Bat, Python) using C++, C# .NET, or related languages. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software or IT discipline, Engineering, or Mathematics. CWF Certification IAT level II: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP Desired: Twenty (20) years of experience in programming and developing software to design, model, and simulate a ship, including 3D geometry modeling and evaluation. Experience with Leading Edge Architecture for Prototyping Systems (LEAPS) preferred. Five (5) years of IT experience in one or more of the following: C++, object-oriented programming and modeling, object-oriented data structures, OpenGL or DirectX graphics programming, GUI design and development, parallel and multi-threaded architectures, NURBS mathematics and BREP topologies. Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required. US Citizenship and security investigations as applicable. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software or IT, Engineering, or Mathematics.
