OverviewFLSA Status: Full Time, Temporary - ExemptReports to: Assistant Program DirectorSchedule: VariesRate of Pay: $450 weekly - 8 weeksClosing Date: 05/30/2025BenefitsBenefits: Standard; Full-Time, Temporary, Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)FunctionA High Peak Camp Head Cabin Leader will provide direct guidance and support to all Cabin Leaders with the assistance of senior leadership staff. Ensure that safety and appropriate supervision is provided for all campers at all times. Act as a guide and support for Cabin Leader staff serving to uplift them. This position will adhere to the Camp Code of Conduct, support the Christian camping and ministry culture as well as uphold the mission, and practices of The Salvation Army and its doctrine.Duties and ResponsibilitiesGENERAL DUTIES:Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.SPECIFIC DUTIES:Safety and Supervision: Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.Prepare and deliver the Head Cabin Leader camp brief at the end of the summer.Assist with evening cabin supervision.Attend and participate in Staff Orientation.Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, camp fires, staff meetings and staff devotions.Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.Weekly ResponsibilitiesMeet weekly with senior leadership and communicate needs, program changes, and concerns related to Cabin Leader staff and campers.Encourage and support the Cabin Leader staff through prayer and one-on-one meetings.Assume responsibility for the direct supervision of Cabin Leader staff.Be present at the “Initial Cabin Meetings” of cabins, rotating around as able and providing support.Assist with cabin management when and where plete any required forms as may be related to camper or program evaluation, or health plete the daily entries required in the Camper Log book as needed throughout the day. Submit them for periodic review as required. Turn them in at the end of each week.Attend Camp Out unless given the specific permission otherwise.Teach and model appropriate counseling techniques to all counseling staff.Implement a weekly “Unit Meeting.” This meeting should include trouble shooting camper issues, briefing activities, brainstorming programs, prayer time, etc.Check in daily with each Cabin Leader to assess needs and areas for support.Assist in conducting all camp program activities as needed.Serve as an Activities Specialist as needed.o Work in a variety of program areas to support cabins (e.g., archery, zipline, sports). This will be determined by need and experience/comfort.Attend all relevant in-services for areas trained.Perform all other duties and roles assigned. This may include duties not directly related to this job description as needed for camp operations.Remember to have fun; ask for help when needed; and uphold the belief that God is in control.Qualification and Education Requirements:Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ.21+ years of age.Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).Experience providing childcare and supervision and must love being with children.Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and adapt to difficult situations with maturity and safety.Maintain a high standard of Christian personal living and behaviors.Be supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds.
