Vice President of Underwriting, Wholesale Property

OverviewVice President of Property Wholesale Underwriting to lead their Wholesale Property team. This executive will drive underwriting strategy, portfolio performance, and broker relationships across the U.S. Excess & Surplus (E&S) and admitted markets. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in complex property risks, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of success in wholesale distribution channels.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the Property Wholesale Underwriting team, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.Develop and execute underwriting strategies for large and mid-sized commercial property accounts, including catastrophe-exposed and layered programs.Oversee the evaluation and approval of complex risks, ensuring sound judgment and alignment with risk appetite.Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers to grow quality submissions and strengthen market presence.Collaborate with actuarial, claims, reinsurance, and executive leadership on portfolio management and product development.Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to guide business decisions.Mentor and develop underwriting talent, fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture.Qualifications10+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with a strong focus on wholesale distribution and E&S lines.5+ years in a senior leadership or executive underwriting role.Deep technical knowledge of complex property risks, catastrophe modeling, and layered/excess placements.Proven ability to lead underwriting teams and deliver profitable growth.Strong broker network and excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field (CPCU or ARM preferred).Job DetailsSeniority level: ExecutiveEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Finance and SalesIndustries: Staffing and Recruiting #J-18808-Ljbffr
