OrganizationThe Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation that works to promote, maintain, and enhance Fisherman’s Wharf as a world class destination. The FWCBD has served as a catalyst for unification of Fisherman's Wharf constituents to support a positive change to their San Francisco neighborhood through events and marketing initiatives, public realm projects, clean and safe programs, economic development, and advocacy.Position OverviewThe Marketing and Events Coordinator (MEC) is an entry-level, full-time position that provides forward-thinking and creative support to the organization by coordinating all marketing and events administrative efforts. The MEC will work closely with the FWCBD team, partner organizations, and district businesses to grow and improve brand recognition, for both the district and its business operators. Their job is to coordinate all marketing efforts to create consistent and effective marketing campaigns across all platforms. This position reports to the Deputy Director.MarketingSupport the DD in establishing and evaluating the organization’s marketing strategy and plan, as well as elevating the organization's brand identity.Support the DD, ideate and implement marketing campaigns to promote activations and events, services, or other district initiatives and promotions.Develop marketing that embraces the diversity of Fisherman’s Wharf, ensuring campaigns are welcoming, authentic, and representative of the community, while recognizing the community's different desires, needs, and connections to the FWCBD brand.Maintain annual marketing deliverable calendar.Maintain and routinely update website content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the district’s brand identity.Develop various types of digital and print assets to support district marketing initiatives and events.Create and design flyers, social media graphics, signage, and other graphics in alignment with the district’s brand identity.Write and edit copy for web pages, event listings, and blog/news updates.Conduct research and optimize content to align with SEO best practices.Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics to assess target audience and the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven decisions.Social MediaWork with the DD to develop a comprehensive social media strategy with defined KPIs for six FWCBD social media accounts.Create engaging content tailored to each social media platform (Instagram (2), Facebook (2), LinkedIn, TikTok).Utilize social media management software to plan and schedule content across all platforms and accounts.Track and analyze performance metrics and prepare regular reports to inform future strategy.Monitor social media trends and audience insights to optimize engagement and reach.Respond promptly and professionally to comments, messages, and inquiries across platforms.EventsFollow FWCBD event guidelines and utilize provided templates to accurately plan, budget, permit, and track event planning progress.Conduct ongoing research to identify event opportunities to present to the Deputy Director, including concepts that can complement and/or connect to existing Citywide programs/events.Conduct outreach and procure potential vendors/service providers, performers, artists, and other event participants.Assist the DD and OAM with onsite setup, facilitation, and completion of activations and events.Procure applicable event equipment, materials, and supplies.Contribute to event marketing efforts by helping promote through digital, print, and community channels.Assist with event surveys, attendance tracking, and creating post-event reports to track success and inform future planning efforts.AdministrationSupport the DD in the development of the annual, semi-annual, and quarterly reporting efforts in compliance with the Port of San Francisco grant and City of San Francisco.Ensure the accuracy of records within the organization’s SharePoint.Assist with general office supplies inventory management, organization, and cleaning.Assist with office administrative tasks, such as answering phones, filing, data entry, etc.OtherKnowledge of industry-specific regulations and guidelines.Experience with marketing tools such as Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Lightroom, Acrobat), Google Analytics, Canva, Google Ads, and web development tools.Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.2+ years of experience working in marketing, events, and/or PR.Experience and/or interest working in non-profit organization, urban placemaking, public space management, and/or community-centric work, preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Teams) and Google Docs and Google Meet, website data entry, and social media platforms.Strong attention to details, time-management, and organizational skills.Proficient writing skills. Adept at writing accurate emails, memos, and reports.Ability to work under pressure, multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and smoothly pivot from one project to another.Professional and friendly communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with various audiences.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and address problems swiftly and effectively.Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.Must be able to lift approximately 40lbs depending on event needs and related equipment.Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.Work EnvironmentThis position is onsite, based out of the FWCBD office in San Francisco and includes regular interaction with staff, subcontracted staff, organizational partners, Board members, and the public. This position also includes long periods of time working in public spaces. A work from home schedule may be established at the discretion of the Executive Director and is dependent upon the needs of the pensation and BenefitsStarting salary range is $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
