OverviewWe’re hiring a Production Manager in Washington, DC. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing commissary operations including supervising daily production, analyzing shop ordering trends, monitoring quality and food safety, ensuring consistency and safety in packing, and managing inventory. This role will assist the Commissary Managers in creating an efficient work environment and ensure all shop orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. You will be responsible for supporting high operational standards by continuing to hold yourself and your team members to the provided checklists, production lists, recipe specs, and other standardized tools. You will also aid in the creation of new tools to assist in the scalability of the company. This position reports to the Senior Director of Commissary Operations.As a CYM leader, you’ll make an impact by:ResponsibilitiesMentor and develop your teamContribute to the business with ideas and feedbackSupport and lift up our teams and ensure alignment with company goalsYour core responsibilities will be:Supervise and train kitchen and commissary staff on proper food preparation techniques, sanitation practices, and equipment handling, maintaining high standards of food safetyOversee inventory of ingredients and supplies needed for daily operations, ensuring stock levels are maintained and reorders are placed on timeAssist in overseeing food preparation according to recipes and quality standards, ensuring consistency and efficiency in a fast-paced environmentEnsure commissary areas (prep stations, storage rooms, equipment) meet cleanliness and food safety standards, adhering to health department and HACCP regulationsEnsure ingredients and supplies are prepared and packaged properly for in-store and off-site orders, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timelinessTrack food waste, manage portion control, and assist in controlling costs by identifying opportunities to reduce waste and inefficienciesCommunicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of ingredients and suppliesMaintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and vendor transactions, providing regular reports to the Commissary Managers on stock levels, shop ordering trends, and operational performanceQualifications & Requirements1-2 years of management experience in a food manufacturing or production kitchen role, with knowledge of kitchen and baking operationsDemonstrates ability and desire to learn and improve in the positionLeadership skills with ability to motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environmentHands-on supervising style and willingness to lead by exampleProficient written/verbal communication and interpersonal skillsProficient with computer software; ability to learn new software quicklyFood Safety Certification required (ServSafe Manager’s Certification)Able to communicate in English and SpanishAdditional RequirementsAbility to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 poundsAbility to work in varying environments (hot kitchen areas, cold preparation rooms, walk-ins, and freezers)Able to squat, bend, stoop, push, pull and reachStand and walk for prolonged periods and complete repetitive tasksFlexibility in schedule and ability to work holidays and weekendsAbility to multi-task, problem solve and maintain composure in a fast-paced environmentAbility to read, write and effectively communicateCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary: $65,000 with 10% quarterly bonus opportunityOpportunities for growth and development as CYM expandsPositive, people-first culture with supportive team and fun environmentBenefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance (full-time staff averaging 30+ hours/week), 401k with 4% employer match, paid vacation, paid parental leave, Employee Assistance Program, staff meals, wellness programs, language classes, and moreWe believe the best individuals come with varied backgrounds and experiences.
