Our IP-protected platform and growing database address multiple billion-dollar markets — from next-generation batteries materials to low carbon fuels — while significantly reducing our carbon footprint in key industrial applications.As a Research Associate at Sylvatex, you will provide support in the development of new processing of cathode materials and Li-ion battery testing. You are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment with innovative clean energy solutions. Like a master architect, when you see a path, you create a roadmap and iterate and build from there.This role will report to the Technical Lead. ResponsibilitiesCarry out aqueous synthesis of cathode materialsScale process to 100 gramsWork independentlyEnsure proper document progress in laboratory notebooks, memos, and reportsEnsure transfer of information to SOPs and provide written reportsComplete the analysis and evaluation of material propertiesPrepare electrode for battery cell assembly and support electrochemical testingCollaborate with industrial and academic partnersMonitor and evaluate new developments in the literature and propose improvements for Sylvatex technologyMaintain clean and well-organized lab areas, meeting all safety regulationsImplement safe work practices (as defined by OSHA and company policies) to deliver an incident-free workplaceInform management and the CTO/COO of any incident within 24 hours QualificationsSylvatex requires a Research Associate who can actively participate in the production of cathode materials and testing of battery materials. At the same time, as a member of the technical team, this person is also expected to contribute to the overall research and development strategy and its implementation.Bachelor or Master Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent. Minimum 1 years plus of synthesis experience in the relevant fields (chemistry, advanced materials, nanomaterials, batteries)Prefer experience in operation and data analysis of XRD, SEM, PSA, and ICPDemonstrated ability to adhere to safety cultureExperience at a start-up company a plus CapabilitiesSelf-starter and bias for action — does things before being asked to or forced to by eventsDemonstrates understanding of internal and external customer needs exceeds expectationsPromotes open and effective written and verbal communicationActively promotes a positive team spiritActively engages and respects the diverse contributions of team, partners or networksAnticipates future situations and plans ahead to meet themDemonstrates openness to new ideasLooks for ways to do things better, faster, more efficientlyFlexibility, adaptability, and success at multi-tasking; willingness and ability to participate in multiple programs simultaneouslyProven teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to deliver objectives in a cross-functional team environmentExcellent problem solver The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to do this job.
