Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery role at ERM Overview Environmental Resource Management (ERM) is seeking a Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery to play a key role in growing our power sector business. The successful candidate will lead permitting tasks on capital development projects including electric transmission lines, oversee staff in a project setting, assess environmental conditions and impacts, and demonstrate strong technical writing and communication skills. Permitting experience on transmission line projects is highly desired. The ideal candidate will be located in the Midwestern United States, with consideration for candidates elsewhere in the Northeast. Responsibilities Manage and provide technical expertise on routing/siting and permitting for power projects for a variety of clients with complex needs. Conduct detailed routing analyses and prepare summary routing reports for power projects. Prepare permit applications as required by federal, state, or local environmental regulatory authorities for energy development expansion and maintenance projects. Be familiar with United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other state/local permitting requirements. Develop plans and schedules and prepare project management reports, such as monthly progress reports. Participate in agency consultations, project meetings, and client communications. Collaborate with other ERM practitioners to execute project delivery tasks; ERM services include environmental impact assessment, routing studies, land use planning, facility siting & permitting, and risk assessment and water resources management. Travel up to 20% of the time for agency meetings, project team meetings, or site visits. Build strong collaborative relationships with clients to expand ERM’s profile and market share within the industry. Requirements Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, or related discipline; or equivalent relevant experience. Minimum of 6 years of consulting or industry experience supporting power clients with routing/siting and permitting projects. Working knowledge of key natural resource regulations including the Clean Water Act (Section 401/404), Endangered Species Act (Section 7), and National Historic Preservation Act (Section 106). Experience reviewing Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, NPDES Construction General Permits, and related construction drawings for accuracy. Ability to research and prepare concise and accurate technical documents. Strong teambuilding and influencing skills; integrity; and experience addressing client and project needs and challenges. Excellent writing, communication, collaboration, project management, strategic thinking, and people skills. Compensation For the Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery position, the anticipated annual base pay is $104,236 – $137,540 (USD). The actual pay will be based on education, qualifications, experience, location, performance, and business needs. Bonus eligibility may apply where applicable.
