OverviewJoin to apply for the Associate General Counsel role at LA Family Housing.ResponsibilitiesCOMPLIANCEPrimary point of contact with federal, state, county, city and other government agencies and regulatory bodies related to complianceOversees external funder-driven audits and monitoring, including responses to findingsServes as compliance subject matter expert and stays apprised of applicable laws, regulations, statutes, rules and public policiesOversees Conflict of Interest Disclosure and Code of Ethics processes for staff and board membersDevelops and implements policies, procedures and agency standards; collaborates with other departmentsIdentifies, develops and implements changes to policies and procedures across departments; coordinates with department headsMonitors compliance activities across departments and identifies trendsDirects compliance issue investigations and resolutionsDevelops and oversees a uniform system for handling violations and promotes a culture of compliancePrepares reports and presents recommendations to General Counsel, Executive Leadership and the BoardAnalyzes potential compliance, contracts or fraud risks in collaboration with Risk ManagementCONTRACT MANAGEMENTManages the full commercial contract lifecycle: creating templates, negotiating and drafting new agreements, and advising on renewal or terminationOversees implementation and maintenance of Ironclad contract management systemOversees development and revisions to contract templates, including subcontracts, MOUs and partner agreementsPROCUREMENTEnsures organization-wide procurement activities comply with contract-driven requirementsAdvises on procurement policies and proceduresSupports departments with preparation of RFPs and other procurement needsTRAININGDevelops and leads staff training on compliance, policies, procedures and ethicsCreates organization-wide compliance awareness programs (whistleblower, fraud, waste/abuse, etc.)Collaborates with Human Resources to develop ongoing compliance training for all employeesMANAGING STAFFDirect supervision of Director of Public ContractCommunicates goals, safety practices and deadlines; promotes regulatory compliance and performanceProvides ongoing supervision, feedback and performance evaluationsCoaches and develops staff; manages timesheets and trainingEnsures clear communication of department goals and outcomesOtherAdditional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorQualificationsJD degree from an accredited law schoolMembership with the California BarMinimum of five (5) years of experience in compliance and contractual mattersExperience with Ironclad or comparable contract management software (preferred)Experience with nonprofit compliance matters and public contracts (preferred)What You’ll Be Skilled AtAnalyze and interpret contracts and lead negotiations with focus on compliance and risk managementKnowledge of applicable Federal, state and local regulationsStrong organizational and project management skillsCommitment to quality, ethics and complianceAbility to work in a fast-paced team environmentStrong written and verbal communicationDecision making and problem-solving abilitiesDetail-oriented with ability to multi-task and meet deadlinesDiscretion and confidentialityProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteWhat We OfferHealth, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 403B Retirement Plan, 529 Education Savings Plan, Long Term Disability, Employee Assistance Program, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Legal Access Plan, Employee Appreciation Program, company-sponsored events, staff development, 9/80 schedule, paid time off, holidays, and more.
