This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds: meaningful collaboration in our Carlsbad office and the flexibility of remote work.The Director, Talent Management & Organizational Design is a strategic leader responsible for shaping Viasat Government’s (VGOV’s) workforce architecture and talent strategy. This role integrates succession planning, high-potential development, and internal mobility with organizational design initiatives that enable agility, accountability, and mission success. Operating at the intersection of people and business strategy, this leader partners across People & Culture, business units, and executive stakeholders to ensure VGOV is future ready.This role leads the design of organizational structures, role clarity, and career frameworks while embedding inclusive talent practices and data-driven decision-making. The Director plays a critical role in enabling transformation, workforce scalability, and leadership continuity across the enterprise. The day-to-dayTalent ManagementLead enterprise-wide succession planning and talent reviews for critical rolesDesign and implement frameworks for high-potential identification and developmentDrive internal mobility and career pathing aligned to organizational needsPartner with P&C BPs and business leaders to build robust talent pipelinesIntegrate inclusive principles into talent strategies and development programsDeliver talent insights and reporting to inform strategic workforce decisionsOrganizational DesignStrategic lead for org design initiatives including operating model alignment, role architecture, and spans & layers analysisFacilitate structural assessments during reorganizations, transformations, or M&A activityStrategic lead for the development and governance of job levelling, titling, and career frameworks across VGOVPartner with Finance, Strategy, and P&C to ensure organizational health and scalabilityUse data to assess effectiveness of structures, decision rights, and team configurationsLearning & Organizational DevelopmentCollaborate with L&D and other HR functions to align development programs with organizational designSupport leadership development and change management initiatives tied to structural shiftsEvaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement in organizational capabilityStakeholder Engagement & GovernancePartner with senior leaders and P&C stakeholders to embed talent and design principles into business planningLead cross-functional working groups to ensure alignment and execution of org design frameworksMaintain governance around job architecture and career progression in partnership with CompensationWhat you'll need10+ years in Talent Management, Organizational Design, or related HR leadership rolesProven experience leading org design in complex, matrixed environmentsStrong analytical capability with fluency in workforce planning and talent analyticsExceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skillsExperience in defense, aerospace, or highly regulated industries preferredBachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in HR, OD, or Business preferredWhat will help you on the jobUnderstanding and working knowledge of:Strategic Thinking & Systems DesignOrganizational Agility & Change LeadershipTalent Development & Succession PlanningData-Driven Decision MakingInclusive Leadership & Cultural IntelligenceSalary range$186,500.00 - $294,000.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $231,000.00- $347,000.00/ annuallyAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
