Reporting to the CFO, this executive leader is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the organization’s accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and controllership functions.This role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial results, maintain a strong internal control environment, and lead process improvements to support the health plan’s growth, modernization, and regulatory compliance. The VP will directly oversee a team of finance professionals, aligning and elevating the organization’s financial operations to support cross-functional collaboration and long-term sustainability. Perform other duties assigned.Key AccountabilitiesControllership & Financial OperationsLead and oversee all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, revenue accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, and payrollOversee the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAPMaintain and strengthen a robust internal control environment and accounting policy frameworkProvide oversight of financial systems, chart of accounts, and system integration to support efficient, scalable operationsRegulatory Accounting & OperationsNAIC and legal entity structureEnsure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including GAAP and statutory accounting principles. This includes preparing and filing quarterly and annual financial statements, tax documents, and coordinating with external auditorsTreasury & Cash ManagementProvide executive leadership for treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and investment policy adherenceOversee banking relationships and manage capital deployment in line with organizational prioritiesSupport enterprise-level financial planning and capital strategy in collaboration with the CFO and FP&A teamLeadership & TransformationLead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across accounting and treasury functionsDrive financial process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparencyServe as a strategic finance partner across the organization, contributing to cross-functional transformation efforts and enterprise-wide initiativesGovernance & Risk ManagementSupport the CFO and senior leadership in preparing materials for the Finance & Audit Committee of the BoardPartner with Compliance, Legal, Actuarial, and other departments to ensure alignment and adherence to financial policies and standardsCollaborate with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders to ensure clear, consistent communication and audit readinessRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with significant experience in controllership, accounting, and treasury functionsPreferred QualificationsDeep understanding of GAAP, statutory reporting, and financial compliance in regulated industriesExperience in a health plan requiredProven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and manage change in complex, cross-functional environmentsStrong communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence across the enterpriseDemonstrated success in improving processes, strengthening controls, and advancing financial systemsThis position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite at our Minnetonka MN office, on average, 3 days per week.The full base pay salary range for this position is $260,000-$390,000. Annual base pay salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and or licensures, the position’s scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for Medica’s Short Term Incentive plan, Long Term Incentive plan and our Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan.Medica offers a generous total rewards package that includes competitive medical, dental, vision, executive life insurance, Self-Managed Time Off, Holidays, paid volunteer time off, 401K contributions, caregiver services and many other benefits to support our employees.The compensation and benefits information is provided as of the date of this posting.
