Company:Qualcomm IncorporatedJob Area:Information Technology Group, Information Technology Group > Systems Analysis General Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Data Quality Engineer to lead and implement enterprise-grade data quality and observability solutions. The IT Engineer – Data Quality and Governance will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining frameworks and tools that ensure the accuracy, consistency, security, and compliance of enterprise data. This role bridges technical execution with governance strategy, enabling trusted data use across business functions. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining robust data quality frameworks using Acceldata, with hands-on experience in TDQ (Technical Data Quality) and BDQ (Business Data Quality) rule development. Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus but not required. Familiarity with Collibra and strong data governance capabilities are highly desirable. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of IT-relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree. OR 7+ years of IT-relevant work experience without a Bachelor’s degree. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on data quality and governance. 5+ years of work experience in programming (e.g., Java, Python) and distributed data processing frameworks and pipelines (e.g., Spark, Databricks). 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above) in a large matrixed organization. 2+ years of working with operating budgets and/or project financials 2+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports. Hands on experience with Acceldata and Colibra Programming Language. Industry leading cloud and/or data engineering certifications. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Helps drive enterprise-wide data quality and compliance initiatives through governance frameworks, metadata standards, and catalog management. Performs data enrichment, cleansing, validation, and root cause analysis using tools such as Acceldata and Unity Catalog. Support integration of Acceldata with platforms such as Databricks, Unity Catalog, and other enterprise data tools. Architect and implement scalable data quality frameworks that span ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers. Define and enforce quality thresholds, validation rules, and governance policies across data domains. Collaborate with data owners and stewards to baseline quality scores and track incident resolution. Build reusable modules for profiling, scoring, and rule-based validation using Acceldata and Databricks. Automated data profiling across bronze, silver, and gold layers using Databricks and Acceldata. Implement scoring mechanisms to assess data reliability and business relevance. Monitor schema drift, freshness, and anomaly detection using AI/ML-enhanced observability tools. Develop observability dashboards for pipeline health, latency, throughput, and error tracking. Integrate Acceldata’s observability engine with Databricks workflows and Unity Catalog. Enable end-to-end lineage and impact analysis to support root cause investigations. Configure and manage Acceldata and Collibra for enterprise-wide data quality and metadata management. Use Unity Catalog for metadata capture and lineage tracking within Databricks. Support governance planning, backlog refinement, and training for data stewards. Produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation for complex systems and processes. Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data governance, quality, and engineering. Actively engage with senior leadership and contribute to the evolution of enterprise data strategy. Level of Responsibility: Working independently with no supervision. Decisions are significant in impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and objectives. Errors typically require substantial time and resources to correct due to the complexity of work and decision timelines. Provides technical leadership and mentorship to junior data engineers. Reviews code, offers architectural guidance, and ensures adherence to best practices in data engineering and governance. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to translate data needs into scalable technical solutions. Ensures alignment with compliance, security, and business objectives. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information to audiences with differing knowledge levels. May involve negotiation with senior stakeholders. Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions; consulted by senior leadership for key decisions. Exceptional creativity to innovate new ideas and processes without established objectives or parameters. Deductive and inductive problem solving required; multiple approaches may be necessary to solve problems; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills needed. Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $115,200.00 - $172,800.00 The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm, which also includes a discretionary bonus program and potential RSU grants.
