Overview Scooper - Los Gatos $18.20 + avg. $9.54 role at Salt & Straw Responsibilities Attentively interact with guests throughout their visit with patience, positivity, and energy, from arrival to checkout, ensuring a memorable experience. Maintain a strong understanding of Salt & Straw’s brand, including production techniques, ingredient partnerships, and seasonal flavors; educate guests and provide recommendations. Scoop the proper portions according to shop standards, often in intervals of 1–2 hours per shift. Process transactions using the POS system, handle cash, and ensure correct change. Prepare, label, and store waffle batter; operate the waffle iron to make cones; label and store cones; maintain a clean front-of-house waffle station. Adhere to shop, food quality, and safety standards; complete dishwashing, product preparation per recipes, and general cleaning and organization of the shop. Restock and replenish retail products, freezers, paper goods, waffle batter, cones, and other supplies as needed. Consolidate ice cream tubs and manage stock from the walk-in freezer; temper tubs correctly. Pack Third-Party Delivery orders accurately, ensuring proper portioning, packaging, and labeling. Answer phones promptly and provide excellent service for product inquiries. Greet guests, facilitate line flow, answer questions, explain service options, and promote online ordering and pint purchases. Taste/sample a scoop daily to better communicate flavor suggestions to guests. Qualifications Valid food handler’s card (required within 30 days of start or per state/local requirements). Experience in food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to learn and discuss classic and seasonal flavors and products; comfortable giving samples. Excellent communication and commitment to Legendary Hospitality in interactions with team, guests, and vendors. Passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds; teamwork-focused. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in English; ability to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Availability for at least 3 shifts per week, including 2 closing shifts.
