We are looking for an experienced commercial procurement attorney who has excellent judgment, loves to negotiate deals, analyze complex legal issues, and find creative solutions. We seek candidates who enjoy working independently, are highly resourceful, have exceptional communication skills, and balance competing demands in a positive and client-friendly manner. We want collaborators who will help structure deals with business counterparts and contribute to a collaborative legal environment focused on learning and global impact.What you’ll doExercise strong judgment to advise The Trade Desk team and contribute to the overall success of the business.Structure, draft and negotiate a wide variety of inbound technology, vendor and purchasing contracts, including professional service agreements, cloud services agreements, SaaS subscriptions, on-prem software licenses, data center agreements, IT and equipment purchasing agreements, data protection addendums, and staffing and recruiting agreements.Continually improve templates, playbooks, and legal processes to scale globally with a consistent but locally relevant approach.Provide practical advice on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, and company policies in a risk-tolerant, but compliance-oriented environment.Identify, research, analyze, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address potential risks related to data privacy, AI/ML, intellectual property, software licensing, information security, and labor and employment laws.Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline, automate, and scale The Trade Desk’s global procurement processes.Distill and communicate complex legal concepts in layman’s terms.Who you are8+ years of experience in an internationally/nationally recognized law firm or in-house legal department.Admitted to practice in the location in which you reside.J.D. from an accredited law school.Significant experience negotiating complex technology procurement contracts and leading legal negotiations with large global companies.Background or experience with privacy law, intellectual property law, employment law, artificial intelligence, SaaS, and advertising technology is a plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external constituents at all levels.Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while juggling competing, time-sensitive demands.Strong business sense and ability to exercise good business judgment.Excellent interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big plus).The Trade Desk does not accept unsolicited resumes from search firm recruiters. The base salary range for this role is $151,100—$277,000 USD; actual amounts may differ based on experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. The company may offer additional compensation such as stock-based incentives, sales-based incentives and commissions, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement plans, disability coverage, life insurance, well-being benefits, tuition reimbursement, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
