Researcher - Large Language Models, Applied Machine LearningOverviewThis role focuses on research and development of advanced techniques for LLM solutions, including model fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, alignment, prompt engineering, and intelligent agents, with an emphasis on scalable, efficient deployment of LLM-based solutions across varied domains.ResponsibilitiesLead the creation of next-generation, high-capacity LLM platforms and innovative products.Work closely with cross-functional teams to plan and implement projects harnessing LLMs for diverse purposes and vertical domains.Contribute to the success of large models within a fast-paced, innovative team environment.Advance research and development in areas such as model fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, alignment, prompt engineering, and intelligent agents.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsPh.D./Master in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.Strong understanding of cutting-edge LLM research (e.g., long context, multi-modality, alignment research, agent ecosystems) and practical expertise in implementing these systems.Proficiency in Python, Rust, or C++, and experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, DeepSpeed, Megatron, vLLM).Strong understanding of distributed computing frameworks and performance tuning for training, fine-tuning, and inference. Familiarity with PEFT, RL, MoE, CoT, or LangChain is a plus.Preferred QualificationsExcellent problem-solving skills and a creative mindset to address complex AI challenges; demonstrated ability to drive research projects from idea to implementation with tangible outcomes.Published research or contributions to the LLM community would be a significant plus.Experience with inference tuning and acceleration; deep understanding of GPUs and AI accelerators; experience with large-scale AI networks, PyTorch 2.0, and related technologies.Experience with scheduling and orchestration of large-scale ML systems; familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.Experience with evaluation of AI systems, LLM applications, and agent development is desirable.About UsFounded in 2012, ByteDance's mission is to inspire creativity and enrich life. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and RSUs.
