OverviewALTA IT Services is seeking a Data Operations and Development Lead who will spearhead development and delivery of critical reports, dashboards, and advanced analytics for a Federal Government client. This role involves leading a team of data specialists to meet day-to-day and new data needs that support business processes with nationwide impact. Remote work with quarterly travel to the DC office is possible. Active Public Trust clearance is preferred; US citizenship is required to obtain Public Trust clearance.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with business stakeholders to understand ongoing and future data needs.Build relationships at all levels of the organization and develop a deep understanding of the business context.Prioritize and manage day-to-day activities, task prioritization, team utilization, and data deliveries with the primary client, utilizing Agile project and task management.Lead data analytics team members to drive full data lifecycle activities, including new platform, data engineering, and reporting capabilities.Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure stakeholder commitments are met.Lead migration from legacy data warehouse and BI platform to the cloud-native Azure platform.Contribute hands-on with technologies (e.g., constructing SQL queries) to facilitate data analysis, troubleshooting, data quality checks, and demonstrations.Establish, maintain, and coordinate Agile development and operations, including Program Increment Planning.Manage design, development, deployment, and operation of Microsoft Azure–based data solutions.Coordinate support from infrastructure, network teams, vendors, and government service providers.Maintain continuous learning to propose new approaches and solutions to meet client corporate best practices in cloud data infrastructure, data architecture, data quality assurance, data security, standards, governance, engineering, performance, reporting, and analytics.Collaborate with the client to maintain a technical roadmap, including latest tools and technologies such as Generative AI.Ensure project knowledge management and documentation, and provide training and support to the client data management team and users.QualificationsAt least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 12+ years of prior experience.8+ years of experience leading a Microsoft Azure cloud-based data analytics team.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.Experience leading a team of data specialists (business analysts, data architects, data modelers, data engineers, Azure cloud administrators, report developers).Leadership experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud data solutions (reports, dashboards, visualization, data extracts, ad hoc queries).Experience using Agile processes (Kanban/Scrum) for daily operations and development.Experience implementing Azure cloud-native services for data engineering, lakehouse/warehouse, data models, and reporting.Experience in data architecture, quality assurance, security, standards, governance.Experience delivering solutions using Azure services (ADLS, ADF, Synapse Analytics, Apache Spark).Experience with Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS).Ability to query and report with tools such as SSMS, Power BI, and SQL query tools.Ability to articulate an Azure-based integrated architecture, including access to external data sources (e.g., AWS, on-premises).Understanding of AI/ML and Generative AI applications to data analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented with multi-tasking ability.Ability to obtain a government-issued Public Trust clearance.Not Required but a PlusPower BI and Microsoft Azure data analytics certifications.Experience delivering GenAI and AI/ML outcomes.Experience supporting data governance (data catalogs, business glossaries, metadata management).Experience with Design Thinking and Human-Centered approaches.System One, and its subsidiaries, including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., provide outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
