The Senior Credit Officer will serve as a key member of the credit administration team, responsible for complex credit analysis, loan structuring, and credit risk assessment for middle market commercial relationships. This role reports to the Chief Credit Officer and plays a critical role in supporting the bank's commercial lending growth while maintaining sound underwriting standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCredit Analysis & UnderwritingConduct comprehensive financial analysis and risk assessment for commercial loan requests up to $25 millionStructure complex commercial loans including term loans, lines of credit, and real estate financingPrepare detailed credit memoranda and recommendations for senior management and loan committeePerform industry analysis and assess borrower market position and competitive dynamicsReview and approve loan modifications, renewals, and workout arrangements within delegated authorityPortfolio ManagementMonitor assigned commercial loan portfolio for early warning signs and credit deteriorationConduct annual reviews and risk rating updates for commercial relationshipsCollaborate with relationship managers to structure deals that meet client needs while mitigating riskParticipate in loan committee meetings and present credit recommendationsOversee junior credit analysts and provide training on underwriting standardsDocumentation & ComplianceEnsure loan documentation complies with bank policies and regulatory requirementsReview loan agreements, guarantees, and collateral documentation for accuracy and completenessCoordinate with legal counsel on complex documentation issuesMaintain current knowledge of lending regulations and industry best practicesSupport regulatory examinations and internal audit reviewsRelationship SupportWork closely with commercial relationship managers to develop creative financing solutionsParticipate in client meetings and due diligence site visits as neededProvide timely responses to credit requests to support business development effortsAssist in developing and maintaining key commercial banking relationshipsRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fieldMinimum 8-12 years of commercial banking or credit analysis experienceAt least 5 years in progressively responsible credit rolesExperience with middle market commercial lending ($5-100 million deal size)Previous exposure to diverse industries including manufacturing, services, and commercial real estateTechnical SkillsAdvanced financial statement analysis and cash flow modeling capabilitiesProficiency in loan structuring and pricing methodologiesKnowledge of commercial loan documentation and collateral requirementsExperience with credit risk rating systems and portfolio management toolsStrong understanding of banking regulations affecting commercial lendingProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and banking software platformsAnalytical CompetenciesAbility to analyze complex financial statements and tax returnsStrong understanding of industry trends and economic factors affecting borrowersExperience with cash flow projections and debt service coverage analysisKnowledge of commercial real estate valuation and appraisal reviewUnderstanding of equipment financing and asset-based lending structuresQualificationsMBA or advanced degree in finance-related fieldProfessional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or RMA Credit Risk CertificationExperience with SBA lending programs and government guaranteed loansKnowledge of syndicated lending and loan participationsPrevious experience with banks having $3-100 billion in assetsFamiliarity with Texas commercial markets and regional industriesAuthority LevelsIndividual approval authority for new creditsRenewal and modification authority within policy guidelinesParticipation in loan committee decisions for larger credit facilitiesAuthority to adjust risk ratings and place loans on watch statusCareer ProgressionThis position provides a clear path for advancement to Chief Credit Officer, Deputy Chief Credit Officer, or senior commercial lending management roles.
