OverviewManager, Temporary Instructional Staffing will oversee all aspects of the DC Public Schools substitute program, including recruitment and selection, hiring and onboarding, school assignment and budget reporting and monitoring, and school administrator support. The Manager will oversee all substitute teacher employees and school assignment data to conduct regular audits to ensure that substitutes are reporting to schools that have teacher absences or vacancies. The Manager will produce regular reports for high-level stakeholders including principals, instructional superintendents and Central Office leaders and lead efforts to support schools with responsible substitute usage while closely monitoring substitute teacher expenditures. The Manager will also oversee the hiring process for substitute teachers, building substitute teachers, as well as after-school programs and summer programs. This role is ideal for a strategic, data-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to ensuring instructional continuity for every DCPS classroom.The Manager, Temporary Instructional Staffing will report to the Director, Strategic Staffing.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.Monitors daily and weekly school substitute usage to ensure that substitute requests correspond to a teacher absence or vacancy; follows up with schools to provide alternate staffing solutions when substitute use is not appropriate.Generates regular reports for high-level stakeholders on school substitute usage; provides data reports upon request.Works closely with Principals and school administrators to ensure they receive the substitute teacher services and related operational assistance needed.Liaises with other Central Office departments to gather information on substitute teacher budget expenditures to mitigate cost and overuse.Oversee the substitute interview process, along with the hiring and onboarding process, to ensure that highly capable substitutes are available to provide coverage at schools.Liaises with Central Office program offices to hire and on-board staff for summer school and after school programs, ensures that all employees are paid in a timely, accurate fashion.Meets with Central Office and school-based colleagues to determine opportunities for improvement; research specific issues and develop detailed recommendations and implementation plans.Represents DCPS at regional and/or national meetings with peer school systems to discuss best practices and share information.Implements a customer-service oriented and high-quality approach to Staffing; communicates with stakeholders frequently via a high volume of telephone calls, emails, and meetings.Builds relationships and liaises with various internal departments to drive collaboration and project success; and interacts with and responds effectively to urgent requests from multiple internal and external DCPS stakeholders.Works in an extremely fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, ambiguity, and with multiple priorities including working a non-standard tour of duty during busiest periods.QualificationsBachelor/'s degree and four to six years of related work experience.Master/'s degree preferred.Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the termediate to Advanced Excel skills with an ability to manage, integrate, and analyze data from multiple and complex sources.Skilled in establishing and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, collaborating with others, and working in teams.Takes initiative and uses a can-do approach to be flexible in spotting and resolving issues in a timely manner.Deep commitment to professional growth and learning; thrive in a culture of continuous feedback.Provides excellent customer service and is skilled in dealing with difficult situations and personalities.Exceptional time management and organizational skills with an ability to multitask and work under pressure.DCPS ValuesSTUDENTS FIRST: We recognize students as whole children and put their needs first in everything we do.COURAGE: We have the audacity to learn from our successes and failures, to try new things, and to lead the nation as a proof point of PK-12 success.EQUITY: We work proactively to eliminate opportunity gaps by interrupting institutional bias and investing in effective strategies to ensure every student succeeds.EXCELLENCE: We work with integrity and hold ourselves accountable for exemplary outcomes, service, and interactions.TEAMWORK: We recognize that our greatest asset is our collective vision and ability to work collaboratively and authentically.JOY: We enjoy our collective work and will enthusiastically celebrate our success and each other.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionHuman Resources, Education, and ManagementIndustries: Staffing and Recruiting #J-18808-Ljbffr
