OverviewUnder direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, this position manages the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) budgetary, accounting, billing, and collection and purchasing activities. This position works as a fully engaged member of the operations team, collaborating closely with colleagues to align financial processes with operations goals and ensure seamless, team-driven outcomes.DutiesLeads the development and preparation of OIG’s annual budget for department operating expensesManages and monitors the work of professional and paraprofessional staff engaged in analyzing and managing fund accountsApproves and monitors the timely processing of invoices for payment and requests for reimbursementReviews financial reports, budgets, contracts, and balance sheets to ensure compliance with accounting practices and government regulationsHandles confidential and sensitive operational and personnel-related informationDesigns and implements computerized accounting systems and internal controls to improve operating efficiencyProvides technical assistance to staff and interprets financial policies and procedures to managers, vendors, and delegate agenciesCompiles statistical data for the preparation of comprehensive financial and productivity reportsMaintains control over emergency, confidential, and/or supplemental accounts; administers OIG’s petty cash fundPerforms related duties as requiredMinimum QualificationsNine (9) years of professional accounting experience, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position plus at least 15 semester hours in Accounting from an accredited college or university, ORGraduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Accounting or a directly related field, plus seven (7) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, ORGraduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree, with at least 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus seven (7) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, ORGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a directly related field, plus five (5) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, ORGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with at least 15 credit hours in Accounting, plus five (5) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, ORGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree or higher in Accounting or a directly related field, plus four (4) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, ORGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree or higher with at least 15 credit hours in Accounting, plus four (4) years of professional accounting experience of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the positionPreferred QualificationsConsiderable knowledge of:Generally accepted accounting principles, methods, practices, and proceduresFinancial analysis and management principles, methods, practices, and proceduresBudget preparation and management methods, practices, and proceduresGenerally accepted fiscal policy principles, methods, practices, and proceduresSome knowledge of:Generally accepted auditing principles, methods, practices, and proceduresApplicable computer software packages (e.g., accounting software, data management software) and applications (e.g., Oracle)Management and supervisory methods, practices, and proceduresSkills and AbilitiesStrong work ethic and professionalismExcellent written and oral communicationCollaborates with co-workers and thrives in a team-based environmentAbility to effectively work cross functionally in a fast-paced work environmentIdentify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsAnnual SalaryRange: $89,112 – $122,556 (annual increases).
