OverviewA mission-driven property management organization is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Resident Engagement to lead the design and delivery of programs that support and enrich the lives of residents living in affordable housing communities. Based in Somerville, MA, this full-time leadership position oversees a team of Resident Engagement Coordinators (RECs) and works in close collaboration with property management teams to foster resident stability, engagement, and community well-being. The Director will also play a key role in building partnerships with local service providers and securing funding opportunities to support resident services.What You’ll DoCollaborate with property management teams to identify and coordinate programming that promotes housing stability and resident successSupport RECs and site staff in developing resident engagement goals and measurable outcomesDesign and implement programs that help reduce rent arrears, improve lease compliance, and promote positive resident relationshipsEstablish and maintain strong partnerships with community-based organizations, service providers, and fundersTrain RECs on using an outcome tracking tool to evaluate program success and report resultsLead efforts to identify and secure funding opportunities at the local and national levelSupervise, mentor, and guide Resident Engagement Coordinators across multiple sitesAnalyze performance data and apply findings to improve service deliveryHost regular check-ins with site teams to problem-solve challenges and plan engagement eventsUnderstand resident concerns and coordinate support through appropriate referrals and resourcesOversee the planning of community-building events and seasonal celebrationsPrepare standardized, site-specific monthly newsletters across all propertiesMaintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting to meet internal and external requirementsPrepare monthly reports for leadership and fundersManage resident engagement budgets and any grant-funded program budgetsRepresent the organization professionally in meetings with local agencies, funders, municipalities, and community stakeholdersParticipate in professional development and organizational training opportunitiesWhy You MatterYour leadership will directly impact residents’ lives, helping them access critical resources, build stronger communities, and remain stably housed.
