OverviewHDR is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Charlotte. In the role of Principal Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:Demonstrate exceptional leadership and set the standard of practice for a particular area of expertise within HDRServe as a senior technical advisor to multiple projects involving complex technical challengesDrive outstanding project delivery and support successful team performance, particularly for projects involving complex multi-disciplinary teamsWork to establish a quality culture and support innovative solutions to drive design and technical excellence across the organizationMentor and develop other professionals within area of expertise to elevate an area of practice across HDRAttract highly qualified candidates to join HDR to grow and strengthen the practiceEstablish client relationships and work with teams to identify and win opportunities to grow the practice across HDRServe as a thought leader for area of expertise to elevate the capabilities of HDR and its professionalsRepresent HDR through participation in professional community to build HDR’s reputation as a world-class provider of professional servicesDue to client contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in EngineeringA minimum of 20 years of experienceRequires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.Extensive experience in project executionProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard design softwareMust be comfortable being viewed as a technical expert in engineering analysis and design and have proven background of technical leadership on these types of projectAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culturePreferred QualificationsWillingness to write and publish technical mechanical design-based articles/papers or be a technical mechanical design presenter on behalf of HDR and the Building Engineering Services Business GroupMaster’s degree in EngineeringPrevious experience with an engineering consulting firmLocal candidates are preferred*LI-SM1What We BelieveHDR is our company.
