Quality Engineering Manager 3 - Sunnyvale, CABase pay range: $154,600.00/yr - $231,800.00/yrRelocation assistance may be available. Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time. Clearance type: Secret.The Northrop Grumman team is seeking a Quality Engineering Manager 3 based in Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of developing and implementing quality and engineering best practices across the program life-cycle, with broad knowledge of end-to-end program lifecycles in a DoD environment. The candidate will manage quality processes across all phases of a technical program from proposal activities through delivery and site installations of systems, and lead a quality team to drive continuous improvement and mission assurance, including risk management and reliability improvements. The role requires strong collaboration to partner cross-IPTs, cross-discipline, and cross-function teams.What You Will DoLead operations for the QE function, including budgets, schedules, and performance standards; lead proposal efforts for the QE team.Apply and integrate mission assurance tools and methods across the product lifecycle.Ensure quality, risk management, safety, process improvement, subcontractor and supplier quality in accordance with contractual requirements; drive early predictive indicators of risk.Use metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess program performance and risks; determine resources to ensure mission success.Set strategy to meet customer expectations; communicate program status and provide situational awareness internally and externally.Promote professional development of the Quality workforce; foster collaboration, engagement, affordability, innovation, value growth, and continuous improvement.Provide clear assignments; create an inclusive work environment; support leadership development and succession planning; partner with Business leaders to build leadership depth; participate in proposal reviews and program start-up readiness.Engage on the shop floor to provide direct quality support and coach facility personnel in quality methods and procedures.Maintain compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and processes to ensure product quality and conformance to standards and customer requirements.Leverage metrics, customer and employee feedback to assess performance and risks and determine resources to achieve high levels of performance.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing (or Master's with 6+ years).5+ years of relevant formal management experience.Experience with program/product lifecycle in areas such as new business pursuit, design, supply chain, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, reliability, root cause analysis, product sell-off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.Experience managing both salaried and union employees.Experience applying quality principles and practices (e.g., inspection, material review) supporting manufacture and test of complex assemblies.Experience engaging on the shop floor to provide solutions and coaching in quality principles.Experience with quality processes related to in-process/final inspection, NDT, receiving inspection and calibration.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.Preferred QualificationsClose tolerance inspection processes experience.Experience with heavy equipment final assembly and test.Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.Experience with DCMA, DoD, MDA organizations.Experience with Naval specifications such as T9001B.Master’s degree in engineering or a technical field.Broad experience in mission assurance, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and global supply chain.Defense industry experience as a Program/Project Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering Manager or Manufacturing Manager.Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance.Salary and BenefitsPrimary Level Salary Range: $154,600.00 - $231,800.00. The salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses may reward individual contributions and company results. Senior leadership roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
