Our team is responsible for supporting the planning, budgeting, and execution of New Construction (SCN) testing and modernization efforts in support of the Modernization and Installation Department (N Department), Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division (PHD).Reporting to the Program Manager, the Systems Engineer will provide support in determining C4I system capabilities and provide integration efforts for NSWC PHD based C4I systems during shipboard construction and modernization efforts. This includes providing technical analysis and review with IWS, OPNAV, NAVSEA and NAVWAR personnel on behalf of the Modernization and Installation Department (N Department), NSWC PHD on the CVN/L-Class Support Services contract.This is a contingent position expected to be located in San Diego, CA or Port Hueneme, CA. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent.What You'll DoServe as a key liaison between Fleet Strike Groups, Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems 80 (PEO IWS 80), Office of the Chief of Naval Operations N95 (OPNAV N95), United States Marine Corps (USMC), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA Warfare Centers), coordinating shipboard modernization, construction, and Combat Systems integration efforts for Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) and Supporting Arms Coordination Center - Automation (SACC-A) aboard amphibious platforms.Provide on-site and remote engineering support during test events and installation phases, resolving complex technical issues by facilitating collaboration among Government Employees, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEAs), Combat Systems Project Engineers (CSPEs), and contractors across fleet units and warfare centers.Participate in the engineering and prototyping of cables and equipment design for the SACC-A Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System Junction Box (AFATDS J-Box), developing interface solutions and potential development of schematics, as well as help evaluate various technical COAs for future design and functionality.Participate in critical system integration and verification events, including the CAC2S Shipboard Operational Verification Test (SOVT) on amphibious platforms during a Post Delivery Availability (PDA) and the Deploying Group System Integration Testing (DGSIT) with a requirement to produce after-action reports, technical white papers, and stakeholder meetings & briefings.Support Tactical Integration Facility (TIF) readiness with NIWC engineers through in-depth architectural analysis and testing contributions, enhancing system validation efforts, and ensuring readiness for future Final Integration Testing (FIT) milestones.Produce weekly reports, trip summaries, and Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) for use during Integrated Product Team meetings, and provide feedback on modernization metrics, lessons learned, improvements, and recommendations for NSWC PHD leadership.Bid and proposal support if requested.Other duties as assigned.What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications:An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.Bachelor's degree from an accredited university requiredSeven (7) years of experience in related field demonstrating the ability to complete the required tasks.Ability to travel and work aboard ship.Demonstrated ability to effectively plan workload and meet established deadlines.Ability to clearly and concisely articulate technical subject matter, both in writing and verbally.Perform other duties as assigned, including proposal development support.Knowledge of Amphibious Shipboard C4I systems and USMC interface fortable presenting work progress and status updates in meetings with senior program personnel.Familiarity with Quality System ISO 9001:2015 Registered and Certified standards.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute project activities on schedule.Strong self-initiative and ability to multi-task effectively.Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a highly dynamic, challenging environment.Skilled in effectively briefing senior-level Navy personnel.Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated problem-solving skills.Must possess strong time management skills.Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.Travel Required ~25% travel required.Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.Desired Qualifications:Master’s Degree (preferably in Engineering) and/or 10 years of experience in a related field demonstrating the ability to complete the required tasks.Physical Requirements:The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon DUS is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, seeking to create a welcoming and diverse environment.
