We are driven by our core values: respect, innovation, and collaboration.About the RoleThe OGC Assistant General Counsel is an integral part of Latham’s Office of the General Counsel team. This role will be responsible for serving as a key support to the Deputy General Counsel, while assisting in all aspects of strategy and operations. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. or New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.Responsibilities & QualificationsOther key responsibilities include:Overseeing and managing special projects, while ensuring alignment with the strategic vision and goals of the General Counsel and Deputy General CounselAttending various meetings, retreats, and events to build relationships and ensure the input and representation of the Deputy General Counsel and/or General CounselWorking on large-scale projects and initiatives, translating ideas into actionable plans, and ensuring successful implementationConducting legal research projects and drafting legal documents, and providing substantive legal support as neededAssisting with budgeting and budget oversight for the department, ensuring efficient allocation and use of resources, and consistency across verticalsProtecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retainsWe’d love to hear from you if you:Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the firmExhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detailPossess proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challengesAnd have:A bachelor’s degree or equivalentA JD from an accredited law schoolA minimum of six (6) years of experience in a legal environment, with a focus on compliance, conflicts, and operational supportExperience in a large law firm Office of the General Counsel, preferablyBenefits & Additional InformationSuccessful candidates will not only be provided with an outstanding career opportunity and welcoming environment, but will also be provided with a generous total compensation package with bonuses awarded in recognition of both individual and firm performance.
