The team’s mission is to establish a modern, efficient, and scalable data infrastructure that empowers all Affirm teams to work seamlessly with data.We are looking for an Engineering Manager to provide hands-on leadership within the Data Lake platform. You will lead a team that is building systems that power many of Affirm’s most critical data pipelines while playing a direct role in improving how we administer, operate and productize this mission-critical infrastructure to unlock substantial value within our business. You’ll have the opportunity to direct the team’s roadmap in close collaboration with your peers, share your knowledge and expertise with others and learn from some of the best on our shared mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives.What You’ll DoBuild teams: Lead a high performance infrastructure engineering team with a focus on building a culture of innovation, accountability, empathy and executionCollaborate: Work closely with your peers across the organization on projects that turn opportunity into resultsInfluence technical strategy: Collaborate with a broad range of engineering and analytics teams, leveraging your experience to deliver a long term technical roadmap that meets stakeholder and growing business needsRaise the bar: Hold a high technical bar while driving the improvement of your team’s quality standards and development processesGrow others: Play an active role in coaching and mentoring team members, providing timely feedback and creating an environment where every engineer is empowered to grow in their careerWhat We Look ForExperience: 7+ years of experience in software engineering with 2+ years of engineering leadership experienceTechnical skills: Prior experience architecting, building, launching and maintaining OLAP systems with demonstrable knowledge of online storage systems, data replication processes and cloud data warehousesTechnical leadership: Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence technical decisions across teamsTeam player: Community builder with strong network-building and collaboration skills and a strong desire to grow and mentor othersCommunication skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersEducation: This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related fieldBase Pay Grade - PEquity Grade - 13Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $225,000 - $275,000USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $200,000 - $250,000Location: Remote - USAffirm is proud to be a remote-first company! Affirmers in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirm office.
