You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.Position descriptionOur Senior Staff Engineer works with our Staff and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in their domain.ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise across multiple areasCollaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problemsDevelop and execute technical software development strategy for various domainsEnsure quality, usability, and performance of solutionsUtilize languages such as Python, C# or other OO languages, SQL, NoSQL; work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure toolingMentor and coach the engineering and product communityInfluence and educate leadership at all levelsShare best practices and improve processes within and across teamsAnalyze cost and forecast, incorporating into business plansDetermine resource requirements and measure outcomes to ensure results, while sponsoring continuous learningQualificationsAbility to design, run experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmapsExperience partnering with engineering teams and transitioning research to productionTrack record of publications in credible conferences and journalsExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeStrong knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsAnalytical problem-solving skills with quantitative approachesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the SDLCFluency with modern languages such as C# and OO designExperience with microservices architecture and extensible REST APIsExperience designing architecture, patterns, reliability, and scalabilityDevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOpsExperience with PowerShell scriptingExperience with Azure Portal and monitoring toolsUnderstanding of Azure services and security protocols (Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth)Experience with Azure networkingStrong ability to assess architectures and propose improvementsExperience10+ years of professional software development in .NET (C# with OO design)8+ years of architecture and design experience6+ years in open-source frameworks4+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP or other cloud servicesEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceAnnual Salary$115,000.00 - $260,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
