Principal Cloud Architect

OverviewWe are looking for a Principal Cloud Architect at Pulumi to join our Professional Services team to be at the forefront of cloud innovation, working with the world's most forward-thinking organizations to transform their infrastructure practices. You/'ll have the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, driving meaningful business outcomes for our clients while contributing to the broader cloud community.Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA. This role is 100% remote targeted for the Pacific Time zone with travel up to 25%. We are committed to our remote workforce and building a cohesive team.Base pay range: $195,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr. Additional compensation types include annual bonus and stock options.ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Architecture - Lead cloud transformation projects for enterprise and digital-native clients by designing secure, scalable multi-cloud architectures and migration strategies, and presenting solutions to executives to guide critical frastructure as Code Leadership - Build reusable components, frameworks and governance models while serving as a Pulumi expert, driving adoption of IaC best practices and GitOps workflows.Technical Delivery & Development - Deliver high code quality and reliable infrastructure solutions, troubleshoot complex challenges, build automation and contribute to Pulumi’s open-source community.Thought Leadership & Mentoring - Through content, talks and technical workshops you will mentor and guide architects and engineers; fostering knowledge and sharing continuous learning.Practice Development - Contribute to the growth of professional services including the creation of offerings, patterns and practices aligned to the company/'s strategic direction.Business Development Support - Partner in pre-sales discussions, proposals, and solution design to build ongoing relationships with technical stakeholders to support growth.QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you have:8+ years of professional services, consulting, or client-facing technical roles with a track record of delivering complex enterprise engagements5+ years of hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with strong proficiency in Pulumi (preferred) or familiarity with Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, or similar tools10+ years of hands-on cloud architecture and engineering experienceDeep expertise across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with hybrid and multi-cloud architecturesProficiency with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesStrong project management and stakeholder communication skills, managing multiple concurrent client projectsStrong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and governanceDemonstrated thought leadership through speaking, writing, or open-source contributions; translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiencesPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldCloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Professional Cloud Architect)Experience with Pulumi Cloud, Pulumi ESC, or Pulumi DeploymentsKnowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)Experience with observability platforms (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus/Grafana)Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP)Previous experience at a technology vendor or consulting firmCompensation & BenefitsBase Salary Hiring Range: $195,000 to $225,000This role will include a 20% commission/variable along with base salary.All full time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus/variable/commission, equity and benefits.BenefitsWe offer comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance.
