The problem first approach means analysis is guided by the business question and is followed by the most effective solution, which may be straightforward or complex, always using data to drive decisions.What You’ll DoAs an Analytics Engineer you will design and develop scalable data models that power our data products serving internal analysis, experimentation and reporting across our entire business. You will collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, operations and data science to understand first and third party data sources and translate this knowledge into performant analytical data models.You will:Contribute to and improve our dbt implementation and data models, turning raw data into scalable, business-ready datasets for clear analysis of business and platform performance.Collaborate with partners across technical and non-technical teams to bridge the gap between data and actionSupport key decision makers about the state of the business through internal data productsParticipate in the development, testing, documentation and evangelism of core data modelsUtilize analytical tools such as Databricks, BigQuery, Airflow, Mode and Tableau to help partners build actionable insightsDevelop strong cross-functional partnerships across Calm to drive successPast projectsPartnering with Data Engineering to set up a reporting system in BigQuery from scratch, including data replication, infrastructure setup, dbt model creation, and integration with reporting endpointsDeveloping and implementing an alerting system for critical metricsSupporting the design of the data warehouse to serve many internal data consumers (analysts, engineers, product managers, operations managers)Building an efficient and scalable data pipeline for high-volume events in the data warehouseWho You AreSolid experience with data modeling and analyzing large-scale data on modern cloud platforms. Experience with dbt strongly preferredStrong proficiency in SQLExperience with data pipeline development tools in a modern data stack such as dbt, Databricks, BigQuery, and AirflowPrior experience in PythonAbility to translate non-technical business requirements into technical solutions, and translate technical solutions to business outcomesStrong relationship management and presentation skillsExperience contributing to data documentation and testing practicesPragmatism: balancing scrappiness and rigorNice to HavesPrior work experience in a subscription business or B2B SaaSExperience working with tools in a data lake architecture (e.g., Spark)Strong proficiency in SQLThe anticipated salary range for this position is $147,000 - $225,000. The base salary range represents the low and high end of Calm’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will depend on location, skills, experience and other qualifications.
