Overview Job Title: Android Automotive Production Quality Engineer Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite from Day One). Look for locals. Responsibilities Configure & test integration with Android phones and Google / vehicle OEMs’ test benches/vehicles. Test & troubleshoot interoperability issues, including NFC, BLE, UWB and application-level flows related to Digital Car Key and Google Automotive Services. Reproduce partner issues on partner benches/vehicles, Google reference hardware (including mobile devices/phones), and/or other Android Phone OEM devices. Perform full-regression and product / feature-specific testing on partner benches, Google reference hardware (including mobile devices/phones), and/or OEM vehicles. Write bug / test reports, perform a preliminary analysis and regularly report progress in Google-powered dashboards for debugging and diagnosis by software engineers. Update hardware, including mobile test devices with latest Android software & GMSCore drops, as informed by Google via detailed documentation, and evaluate test cases performed by team members. Develop an automated test framework / toolchain based on Google tools and applications. Test Driving: driving permit for passenger vehicles in locale, execute drive tests as provided by Google via detailed documentation. Provide proof of driving skills to operate infotainment tests. Stationary test: execute test cases for head units on benches or standing vehicles, reproduce bugs on lab benches and vehicles. Based on field experiences, generate and maintain reference documentation such as test and validation plans, user guides for partner hardware and applications, manuals to update the Android device and firmware. Author scripts to make tasks repeatable. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience Native level fluency in English for reading, writing, and speaking Business level fluency in English for reading and writing Relevant work experience, including development and/or test automation experience Experience in test-driven development, debugging, building tools and testing frameworks Legally permitted (e.g., valid driver’s license) to drive in North America. Submit scanned/photo of driver’s license [Required] Submit written confirmation of license changes, prior, pending, and post driving infractions / penalties / criminal proceedings after review and execution of the contract [Required] Ability to efficiently travel ~50% to visit partner sites is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Android framework, ecosystem, and test automation. Experience with updating Android devices, Android builds and Android apps Experience with creating and executing shell scripts to automate Android device setup Experience with Android Platform Tools, especially adb Experience with macOS/Linux Experience with shell, terminal Experience with bug tracker tools like Buganizer, Jira, or equivalent Experience with bug reporting, documentation Experience with test case execution and documentation Experience with test case management tools ISTQB Certified Automotive Tester and/or Mobile Application Testing Other Details Duration of the contract: 1 Year, Start from ASAP Job Location(s): Mountain View / San Jose, CA Expectations: Driving to partner sites 3-4 times a week, if required Phone preparation: flashing SW builds, updating additional app software (as required) Vehicle preparation: working with the local OEM team for this Nice-to-Haves: Experience with NFC, BLE, UWB Scripting and automation capabilities Experience with Android development Experience with automotive development, tools, and processes Experience with Digital Car Key technology Diverse Lynx LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
