The Legal Senior Group Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team within the Legal Function. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice, and guidance regarding the servicing process of the Mortgage Business and the post-charge off collections process within USPB Operations.This role requires thorough understanding of the strategic direction of mortgage servicing and the post-charge off collections process within USPB Operations, combined with knowledge of the laws and regulations for the geographies in which we operate. Provides input into strategic decisions, exercising sound legal judgement to develop proactive, risk-appropriate and commercially practical business-oriented solutions. Full management responsibility of a team, including management of people and planning.ResponsibilitiesProvide legal counsel regarding the servicing process of the Mortgage Business and the post-charge off collections process of USPB Operations-Recovery BusinessSupport strategic initiatives, provide subject matter expertise and interpretations of relevant laws, rules, regulations, and industry practices, and advise business management on legal matters and risks impacting the businessManage a diverse team by providing guidance, evaluating employee performance, and providing compensation recommendations, promotions, and support on personnel-related mattersProvide advisory services in respect of business decisions by applying institutional knowledge against industry standards, widely accepted business practices, laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines, escalating where appropriateCollaborate across internal lines of business and control/support functions to achieve coordinated and efficient outcomes on matters of common interest; coordinate closely with the Legal team on a regional and global basisAccomplish results by leveraging networks/connections, colleagues, and peersServe as business partner and advisor to business stakeholders and functional partners (e.g., Risk, Compliance) by participating in planning and development initiatives; contribute to business objectives by using knowledge of industry, laws, and regulationsActively participate in risk reviews, governance and control forums while demonstrating awareness of issues with potential financial, reputational, or legal consequencesProactively identify, evaluate and contribute to appropriate management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk through cross-function collaboration, following relevant legal developments, participating in internal projects, escalating as appropriateManage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert and provide senior advisory services to business partnersNegotiate, coordinate, and monitor management of complex legal issues and make key decisions within area of responsibility, escalating where necessaryAssess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment, escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, and supervising the activity of othersQualifications12+ years of relevant industry experience with some experience in an in-house legal role in financial services; prior managerial experience is beneficialExcellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skillsExperience working with regulators/regulatory bodies is preferredProven ability to apply sound judgement while managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentExperience with complex deals, ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutionsEffective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationshipsBar license in good standing to practice lawFamiliarity with TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, FDPA, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, Rules of Civil Procedure, State Debt Collection Laws and related mortgage servicing regulationsEducationJuris Doctorate or equivalent law degreeJob Family Group: LegalJob Family: Legal - ProductTime Type: Full timePrimary Location: Irving, Texas, United StatesPrimary Location Full Time Salary Range: $170,000.00 - $300,000.00In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may include discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
