Senior Software Engineering ManagerWe are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our Global Engineering team and be responsible for leading a team of software engineers. You will set the prioritization and direction for your team and develop your team through mentorship and coaching. You will have a customer first mindset and be a strong collaborator and communicator. Your primary focus will be on coaching and developing your team members so they feel supported, empowered, and engaged.You will also be responsible for keeping track of the projects the teams are working on, facilitating cross-team discussions when necessary and deciding on the future direction of the team (what projects they will focus on next). You will collaborate with UX, Product and other development teams to deliver best-in-class solutions for our customers. Specifically, your focus will be to:Directly manage a team of Software Engineers, comprised of both individual contributors and managers, with responsibility for coaching, mentoring, and supporting them in scoping work and prioritizing tasks.Mentor engineers and help grow their skills, identify growth areas, set expectations and provide feedbackManage projects across multiple engineering teams and socialise progress across engineering teams and leadershipKeep a keen eye on quality, and continue to drive improvements to testing, monitoring and alertingWork cross functionally with PM, UX and Engineering to address specific customer pain points and to think strategically about the future direction of the productWork closely with other managers and teams across the Rapid7 platform to align efforts and initiativesKickstart new ideas, build proof of concepts and jumpstart newly funded projectsBalance multiple objectives and chart a clear path forward for all of themThe skills and qualities you’ll bring include:Previous experience in managing engaged and high performing software engineering teams with a track record in developing and mentoring software engineers at all levelsA demonstrable passion for all things software engineering with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to read codeA solid pulse on the security landscapeBrings a customer-first mindset to engineering with the ability to drive that throughout your teams, understanding the customers needs and and integrating customer impact into everyday decision makingStrong cross-functional skills, with the ability and desire to build relationships with other teams including Product Management, UX and engineering teams to achieve broader company objectivesSolid communicator with the ability to clearly convey objectives and rationale whilst fostering commitment from others both within the team and cross functionallyExperience with managing multiple, high-impact projectsCapable of managing through high-intensity situations when they ariseBEng, BSc or related technical field or equivalent practical experienceCore Value Embodiment: Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective successWe know that the best ideas and solutions come from multi-dimensional teams.
