This position prepares and presents complex billing reports for billing attorney review and ensures that bills are posted on time. The Senior Billing Specialist works under minimal supervision and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesManage edits and transfers to pre-bills as directed by billing attorneys, ensuring adherence to departmental and Firm turnaround standardsConduct thorough reviews of prebills to identify and rectify misallocated/erroneous time and disbursements, ensuring strict compliance with client guidelinesVerify and apply client-specific rate accommodationsGenerate bills, reprint corrected pre-bills, and compose cover letters as neededProactively communicate with billing attorneys to track billing deadlines and provide status updates on pre-bills and prepared billsPost bills with billing attorney approval and within billing deadlinesCollaborate effectively with the e-billing team to ensure accurate electronic submission and approval of client billsMonitor client accounts for delinquent payments, promptly notify billing attorneys and perform directed actionsConduct detailed research and reconciliation of client accounts, payments, and unapplied cash as requiredPrepare and send reminder statements in accordance with directives from billing attorneysAddress and escalate complex billing issues such as rate discrepancies, timekeeper approvals, and billing delays to appropriate teams for swift resolutionCultivate strong professional relationships with clients to enhance billing efficiency and accuracyRecommend and implement enhancements to billing processes to optimize efficiency and accuracyProvide assistance to the Client Accounting Manager with reporting and other projects as neededJob SpecificationsHigh School DiplomaAt least five (5) years of relevant experienceKnowledge of basic accounting principlesAdvanced knowledge of standard billing processes and proceduresAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)Advanced written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong customer services skillsAdvanced analytical skillsAbility to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilitiesAbility to work independently and under own direction and initiativePhysical Demands And Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, talk and hearEmployee must occasionally lift up to twenty (20) poundsWork EnvironmentTypical indoor office environmentDisclaimerThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people within this classification.
