OverviewJob title: Headquarters Building Maintenance Technician -A at American Electric Power (AEP). Under limited supervision, this role performs skilled work involving operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements at AEP's 31-story corporate headquarters in downtown Columbus, Ohio.Posting End Date: 09-04-2025. The job posting will close on the day before the posting end date.What You’ll DoPerform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and applicable codes.Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.Monitor work, communicate effectively with, and assist others, including contractors, to ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.Perform general housekeeping duties as required (e.g., assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture and fixtures; assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management).Procure necessary quality parts and materials in an economical and accepted manner.Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.What We're Looking ForEducation: High school diploma or GED required.Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades test (CAST) is required.Other RequirementsSelected candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends.Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certification.Overtime required; overnight travel may be required. Scheduled as well as unscheduled, weekend and evening shift work may be required.
