OverviewJob DescriptionSalary: $120,000 - $150,000About Vault 44.01 (Vault) is a leading carbon capture & storage (CCS) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vaults team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007.Vaults capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada focusing on single CO2 source, near-site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract.Vault has secured a US$300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB.SummaryStartDate: Q3/Q4 2025Location: Calgary / Denver or Midwest USAReporting to: Manager of Subsurface Risk, MMV and CCSPermitsEmployee Type: Full TimeTravel required: 1-2+ weeks per yearOpportunityThis role is for a CCS/Petroleum Engineer experienced with well design, operations, and subsurface monitoring methods with a strong understanding of regulatory processes associated with permitting. You are knowledgeable about Class VI permit requirements, work well in a team environment and have strong writing and critical thinking skills to contribute to permit development. This role is suited for someone eager to tackle daily challenges, grow with a great company, and enjoy the journey along the way.This employer supports a flexible hybrid work environment with a mix of in-person collaboration and remote work. Emphasis is placed on producing high quality work and meeting deadlines.ResponsibilitiesProvide engineering and operations support to a multi-disciplinary team responsible for CCS permitting; this will include state permits, EPA Class VI, and CARB CertificationContribute to the writing and evaluation of Class VI and other permits and respond to regulatory questionsCollaborate with the Project Development Team on well design and construction, AFE development, operations, and plugging plansRequire a practical knowledge of drilling and field operations and experience with nodal analyses, wellbore hydraulics, and casing/tubing design, drilling fluids, cementing programs and completion equipmentCollaborate with the finance team to support financial assurances sections of a permitSupport field operations and ensure well design adheres to safety, reliability and economic goalsCross-disciplinary knowledge of geology and reservoir engineering as an assetKnowledge of measurement, monitoring, and verification (MMV) technologies as an assetMust work well under pressure and be adaptable to changing team prioritiesExcellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects at onceAbility to work independently and use critical thinking skillsExcellent written communication skillsSkills and QualificationsBachelor of Science degree or higher in petroleum engineering or related engineering discipline5+ years of experience in petroleum engineering including drilling and completion engineeringDirect experience with well design and nodal analyses software considered an assetUnderstanding of federal and state permitting processes considered an assetDemonstrated experience in carbon storage projects is considered an assetTime and project management skills along with attention to detail are requirementsKey CompetenciesStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to detailHighly motivated, results-oriented, and deadline-driven with the ability to work well in a team and independentlyDemonstrates a willingness to share knowledge and support team membersExcellent work ethic, with the ability to manage competing and changing priorities while maintaining a high standard of workAbility to write and perform critical analysis of data and results from multidisciplinary studiesBenefitsWe offer a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salaries, health and dental coverage, retirement plans, and generous paid time off to support your work-life petitive salary401k plansHealth and dentalPaid time off and paid holidaysHealth Savings Accounts (HSAs) / Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for health and dependent carePaid Parental LeaveVault is an equal opportunity employer, and are important to us.
