This position is full-time onsite. You will support the manufacturing and testing of marine propulsion and power systems, working on processes for high value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, machined components, and welded fabrications. Processes include precision manual assembly, welding, machining, bonding, finishing, and mechanical assembly. Responsibilities Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an experienced team. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment. Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimize production area layouts, manage bills of materials, and create detailed work instructions, process procedures, and tooling requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination, and equipment/system maintenance. Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of new capital equipment for expanded production processes. Some roles will also support final acceptance testing of product and provide technical support to test facility operation as necessary. Ability to support multiple production shifts (first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on assignment and production schedules. This position can be filled as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer depending on experience. Basic Qualifications — Principal Manufacturing Engineer Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of relevant work experience. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Experience with mechanical assembly processes. Experience in continuous improvement. Experience in technical writing. Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. US Citizenship. Basic Qualifications — Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 6 or more years of relevant work experience. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Experience with mechanical assembly processes. Experience in continuous improvement. Experience in technical writing. Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. US Citizenship. Qualifications for Both Levels Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. Active Secret Clearance. Experience with propulsion and power plant machinery or building large equipment structures. Experience with GDT control plan development and execution. Experience utilizing a modern ERP system. Manufacturing equipment, product testing and facility operations experience. Experience leading technical projects with planning, scheduling, resource identification, and financial management. Experience with new product introduction. Experience applying Lean Six Sigma principles on low volume, high mix processes. Experience with installation of new equipment or processing in a highly controlled environment. Experience with materials and heat treatment of materials. Salary and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00 The above salary ranges are guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
