Job Title: Lead EKG Technician Location: Main Hospital - New Brunswick Department Name: EKG Req #: 0000214372 Status: Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $21.59 - $27.10 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The lead EKG Tech is responsible in assisting with the daily operations within the department. The Clinical Lead serves as a resource for staff, coordinates patient scheduling, and work assignments. Works closely with the Manager to create and maintain education programs for new and existing employees in addition to taking clinical assignments as needed. Qualifications: Required: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required. * EKG certification required. * Minimum 5 years of EKG experience required. Preferred: * Proven leadership experience strongly preferred. Scheduling Requirements: * This is a part time, day/evening position 24 hours week, Essential Functions: * Assist the supervisor in ensuring all WQs are attended to in a timely fashion; that workflow is followed by users; that EKGs, cardiac monitor andstress tests are interpreted within a reasonable time frame. Assist the supervisor in daily operational tasks to manage report turn-around time,patient throughput, adherence to protocol and revenue integrity. Troubleshoot and aim to address issues in real time. * • Proper protocol in assisting with Stress Testing is carried out in that: test is explained to the patient, applications are correctly applied to thechest, and variations of EKG's are recognized while the test is in progress, paper work is completed, and assistance from physician is obtainedas needed while the test is being performed. * Provides a level of support to the patients, family members and caregivers that we serve, in order to ensure an optimal hospital experience. Through phone call discussions and unit rounding, identifies patient concerns and areas of opportunity. Address deficiencies with hospital leadership in real-time for review and follow-up. Facilitate communication between patients and all members of their healthcare team, including their nursing staff, nursing leadership, physicians and other appropriate departments and leadership when necessary. Follows up to ensure all patient concerns have been addressed. * Reviews findings from each electrode position for chart records for deviation from normal at time of EKG so that findings are timely and accurate. * Notes that all equipment is properly maintained. Secures necessary supplies and equipment. * Patient records are properly maintained. Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her unit. Cooperates with physician by making available all the information that the physician needs to perform his professional and administrative duties. * Manages inventory. Assures adequate supplies for office operations; Monitors delivery of items and manages returns. Assures just in time levels of inventory. Organizes daily schedule and demonstrates time management. Maintains & documents competencies and annual mandatories. * Oversees training of new students, CCTS and new employees. Meets with trainees weekly to go over progress with orientation. Verifies that checklist, competency exams and all required orientation exams are completed before the end of the 90 day introductory period.
