Chief Operating Officer, Stars Behavioral HealthStars Behavioral Health GroupJune 20, 2024Long Beach, CAShareStars Behavioral Health Group (SBHG) and its subsidiaries deliver a comprehensive range of community- and facility-based behavioral health and social services programs, including special education nonpublic schools and clinical practices training across the USA, for SBHG agencies’ staff. Intensive services include day treatment, crisis stabilization, crisis residential treatment, and inpatient treatment. With over 50 locations, SBHG partners with county mental health, child welfare, and juvenile justice departments, as well as public school districts throughout California.SBHG operates in 60 locations across 12 counties, employs over 2000 staff, and manages more than $230M in contracted funding. In 2024, SBHG impacts over 40,000 individuals and families through 85 programs and 27 inpatient/crisis/residential facilities.Established as an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) in 2010, SBHG is entirely owned by its employees.The Vice President and Chief Operating Officer oversees SBHG's facilities and programs and manages the service agreement with an affiliated non-profit. The COO collaborates with the CEO and executive team to set performance goals and develop strategies, procedures, and business plans to foster growth and improve financial and operational performance.This leader will represent SBHG to government agencies, provider and advocacy groups, the Board of Directors, and the community, with potential appointment to the Board.Key Selection Criteria:At least five years of executive healthcare management experience.Experience in behavioral healthcare management, inpatient or residential treatment, across diverse populations and age groups preferred.Strong strategic, financial management, budgeting, and reporting skills.Ability to understand or quickly learn federal, state, county, and local policies, laws, and regulations affecting behavioral healthcare, child welfare, social services, and education.Excellent communication, analytical, entrepreneurial, and negotiation terpersonal confidence and cross-cultural sensitivity fostering trust and respect.A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is required.SBHG’s mission is to bring vision, passion, and humanity to behavioral healthcare, social services, and education, collaborating closely with individuals, families, providers, and county partners to create meaningful change.
