Overview Tax Accountant, National Tax - Indirect Tax (State & Local Tax – Income & Franchise Tax) (Senior) (Multiple Positions) — Job Number 1640006, Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Boston, MA. Responsibilities Work with a team on a variety of state and local tax issues through diverse experiences while serving clients. Develop clear plans to improve clients’ tax activities and tailor advice to their operations by researching client business operations. Prepare and review state and local tax workpapers, including income tax summaries and apportionment factors. Prepare and review state and local corporation tax returns, as well as quarterly estimated tax workbooks and calculate payments due. Research state tax code and regulations on apportionment sourcing rules, nexus rules, franchise tax, and income tax. Prepare tax provisions, audit positions, and state and local FIN48 memorandums. Review and draft responses to state notices and to state auditors’ information requests. Provide technical guidance and share knowledge with team members; deliver quality client services on complex, judgmental, or specialized issues. Demonstrate technical capabilities and professional knowledge; learn EY service lines and assess how to apply knowledge and services. Qualifications Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Law, Tax or related field with 2 years of indirect tax work experience; or Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Law, Tax or related field with 1 year of indirect tax work experience. 1 year of experience at a professional services firm (mid-sized/regional to large national firm) or in-house tax role. 1 year of experience in state and local income & franchise tax. 1 year of experience in multistate tax compliance (preparation or review of tax returns, accounting for income tax, and state tax controversy). 1 year of experience in technical writing and tax research. 1 year of experience with Microsoft Excel, One Source Tax Compliance Software, Corptax, or Premium Pro.
