OverviewRocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more – all with the goal of opening access space. The rockets and satellites we build, and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations.Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit. We are developing Neutron, our upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment. Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.RoleTAX DIRECTORBased onsite at Rocket Lab’s Headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Tax Director is responsible for managing our growing geographic footprint and leading the global tax function. You will support the Corporate Controller, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Finance organization, with a focus on optimizing our global tax structure, managing complex M&A transactions, and ensuring compliance with international tax regulations.ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the company/'s global tax function, ensuring compliance with international tax laws and regulations.Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company/'s global tax position.Identify and leverage government incentive programs to benefit the company.Manage tax aspects of complex M&A transactions, including due diligence, structuring, and integration.Develop and maintain intercompany transfer pricing policies and strategies.Oversee the review of quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations in addition to preparation of tax returns.Planning for tax efficient repatriation of foreign cash, and other tax planning opportunities.Review documentation prepared for special projects or tax planning opportunitiesPerform tax research and assist with tax planning, including memo preparation and presentation of proposals to senior management.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.15 years of experience in a senior tax role, with significant experience in a global corporate capacity.Proven track record of managing complex M&A transactions and integrating companies into a global tax -depth knowledge of international tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.Strong experience with intercompany transfer pricing policies and strategies.Nice to haveExperience working with manufacturing companies.CPA or equivalent certification.Experience with government incentive programs.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Additional requirementsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.Must be physically able to commute to buildings.Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate levels of pensation and benefitsBase salary is a component of total rewards; base pay range CA: $160,000 – $225,000 USD. Base salary is determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Employees may also receive equity and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, vacation, holidays, retirement plan with company match, and other perks.Eligibility for benefits may vary based on employment status.
